I saw a teaser this morning for the ABC news with Peter Jennings doing a story on "the rising popularity of witchcraft. . . do you know what your daughters are into?" If the teaser is any indication, it should be a highly negative portrayal.
Geez, what would happen if they did another belief system that way? Makes me a little ill.

**Shrugs** To Hollywood, and therefore to most of the American public, Witchcraft == Charmed. To most folks in the Bible Belt, of course, Witchcraft is something far worse.
As much as many folks may enjoy the label "witch," we may eventually have to yield the term to its negative connotations and find a name more representative of all of us.

Okay so was it on the evening news earlier this evening? Because I'm watching Dateline and there was nothing in the introduction.
I did see the teaser Azure saw but it was verrrry early this morning and I don't even know what channel it was on . . .

well i guess ill be having a day full of witchy stuff then! in my spanish class today, our teacher was describing the roots of halloween and el dia de los muertos to us. i think she may have more than just minimal pagan knowledge, because she was talking a lot about the sabbats and eostre (she also described the roots of easter) and the different pantheons. it was very cool!
anyway, sorry that was off topic.
i hope the report they do is good. i would totally hate for my mother to see a negative thing about it and have her give me a lecture. oy vey...

I'm new, so perhaps that explains my confusion... but, what is the difference between Witch, Wiccan, Druid, Pagan? Or are they all grouped as witches/pagans, with Wiccan, and Druids being two different expressions within the group? If this has been answered somewhere else, please forgive me. I've been reading these forums every night for several hours, and haven't found the answer yet! (There is an awful lot of info here!! :D Love it!!)

There's a lot of difference to the person who cares what they are called lol but basically Wiccans and Druids are of a particular religion. Some of them like being called "Witches" some do not.
What exactly IS a Witch is up to you do decide for yourself. Basically a Witch can be anyone who performs spells within or without a religious setting. It is not necisarily a religion unto itself but some people do think of it this way and are NOT incorrect! Like I said it's sort of upnn to the individual what the term means to them. The term Pagan is sort of a catch all term for all Earth based religions. Druid, Wicca, Shamanism ect...
So there you have it in a nut shell;) no definate answer for the Witch word though LOL! BUT I don't mind the term and consider myself a Witch:D

Alright, does this mean that the witchcraft piece DID air on ABC's Nightline, last night, Tuesday October 29th? Or is it going to be on tonight, Wednesday October 30th?
Just checking!

The commercial I saw said it was *supposed* to be on Tuesday October 29 because that's the day I saw it and it said "Tonight."
HOWEVER, I have yet to find anyone who saw it or has heard anything about it. Does anyone think it's possible that someone objected and they pulled it?

HA!!!! That's what I am wondering. Yesterday I went to abcnews.com and emailed the company....I recieved an email back stating that there was to be no episode on witchcraft airing on any abc showing this week. I searched Niteline, Dateline...20/20 and World News Tonight....
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR....They probably pulled it:mad:
I know I heard something about Witchcraft on ABC....Noooo I'm not going crazy.........or.....could I be?????
