View Full Version : God and Chevrolet

I *just* heard about this on Fox News.
Chevy is endorsing a Christian concert tour. It's called "Chevrolet GM presents: Worship with Us" or something like that. The Jewish Association is angry about it, but the friendly Rev from Texas is all about "traditional values" and "traditional morals" and states that several big name companies endorse "homosexual content" that don't mesh well with Evangelical Christian views. But he's all okay about Chevy and God.
Also, he says that Christianity isn't a big "drag on society" and he ALSO said that there's over 100 billion Christians go to church every Sunday. Not to mention "Christians pay taxes, Christians work, *Christians buy cars!"
Like Jews, Pagans, and others don't?!
I haven't found the article online about it yet, but I'll be sure to try to find it if someone else doesn't.

Sounds like the Rev from TX is doing the usual jump on the band wagon and play "Spin Doctor." No matter, I drive a Dodge.

Hrm. I drive a Chevrolet Cavalier now. . . and while I've given thought about a new car, I'd always held Chevy as my first preference.
I don't know if this will really change that or not, though. I mean, it is private money that financed this, so there's nothing wrong with it on ethical or moral grounds.

I don't get it: aside from blatant capitalism, what's the problem with a car company endorsing a religious tour? It's their money.
I don't like Chevy's (or ANY American cars, really), so it doesn't affect me. Give me Japanese or Italian, please! :D

Nah ... like I said earlier, we just have some guy from TX, putting the usual church "Spin" on this kind of thing. It's all after the fact stuff nad really doesn't have that much do do with Chevy or GM. Just someone found a way to capitalize on something and "make the news." Well, I wonder if he got his whole "15 minutes."
Stuff like this is not why I drive a Dodge, I have had several Chevy's too and even a Ford. I just drive whatever I like to drive, something like this won't change my driving tastes.

Only problem I had with it is about the Rev man. When he said that "Christians buy cars" and such.. I just got steamed.
I've a Ford Escort, so it doesn't really matter. It's just the Rev I don't like.

All my family owns are Fords...
although bf drives a Chevelle, I think that's grandfathered somehow since he bought it at a car show... (or maybe I'm making excuses because I love his car almost as much as I love him, lol!)

I like to think he rides the bus. Like in that Joan Osbourne song.

If God does drive a Chevy, let's at least hope it's something with class, like a '57 Nomad.

This is my 5th Dodge Van. I have had it longer than any other vehicle I have ever owned. I doubt that the TX Rev would drive it though. He probably has some overpriced and underbuilt GM product :D.

100 billion Christians? Last I heard the world's population was something like 6 billion...

I'm going to change my mind and say that God walks. Or rides a cheap-o bike of some sort. With a basket. And a horn. And a playing card in the spokes. And tassles on the handles. Yes, God rides a bike.
If God drove, the car would be something sexy and Earth-friendly. At least it BETTER be! I KNOW God wouldn't mess up it's own creation by driving something gas-powered.
All right, I'm getting kind of silly...
