For about a week now i've been having dreams where ive been running from snakes. They arent chasing me or anything but they're everywhere. they're on the ground surrounding me, in the trees above my head, everywhere and im just trying to get away. I'm terrified and im running as if my life depends on it. Any idea what it could mean?

Recurring dreams often happen because someone is being shown something for a reason. Has anything different occured in your waking life? Or are you about to try something new? Does it worry you? You're faced with a problem in the dreams of snakes all around you and you can't get away. Snakes have different meanings in dreams. Life, healing, medicine, and rebirth. Also shedding of the skin is change. Lots of snakes, mean you are faced with a problem that is more complex than you anticipated. You feel somewhat unable to begin a new project, or contact someone, or go somewhere because of many obstacles. Perhaps these obstacles are just in your imagination. Or you are eager to do something and you can't do it yet but you're frustrated? These are questions for you to ask yourself.

I must agree..considering a bite from a snake in a dream takes you deeper into the spiritual path like an initation from what Ive read

snakes represent wisdom. "unknown" wisdom.

thus why people fear them, especially in dreams.

perhaps the dream is telling you there are things in life to be learned that most people wouldnt dare dabble with. and those very things are surrounding you. ;)

Yes, some excellent advice has been given in this thread. You may be ready for an initiatory experience or to learn new wisdom. But it may seem alien to you and, therefore, scary. And you mentioned the snakes aren't pursuing you, so the idea seems to be that it's scary that you might pursue them.

I can suggest two possible approaches. First, since snakes are sometimes associated with goddess energy, you may wish to approach a female deity or spirit guide that could give you advice.

Second, you may wish to plant a dream seed about the snakes. Before bed, you might tell yourself - for instance - "I can talk to the snakes, but they won't hurt me" or something similar.

I had similar experiences for several weeks in a row at one point. When I really noticed the snakes, I saw they had horns (which led me to getting closer to my patron, Cernunnos). It may also help you to notice any features, textures, colors, patterns, etc. about these snakes (and you could plan a dream seed about noticing these details, too). That information could provide you with a clue as to how to proceed.

I wish you the very best of luck.

Excellent advice already given. I've had similar dreams with spiders and once I understood the meaning it helped me find a great source of inner strength and face many fears in the waking world. It wasn't the spiders so much as them being everywhere and avoidance being impossible. If you dream this again and you are one who can control their dreams once they become aware that they are dreaming, try embracing the snake and seeing what she can teach you.
