The Lwas/Loas

Okay, I just had a question run through my head and I can't quite find the answer...

I know that the Lwas/Loas are ancestral spirits, but are they to be worshipped as Deity or honored as ancestral spirits?

Also, what is it that the Lwas/Loas normally expect from one who serves them as a non-initiate?

They are thought of in the same view as cannonized saints. If you google the ones you are interested in, you will see that most sites show the same likes in foods, drinks, trinkets, favorite colors and numbers. Doing some research for yourself and choosing the things that you feel comfortable with are the best bets.
