View Full Version : Constructing Altar

Recently I have felt a pull to these:

Papa Legba (He's been around me for a lo-ong time...)
The Baron
Maman Brigitte
Ghedes

I plan on creating one altar for Legba, Baron, and Maman Brigitte with candles for the Ghede when I get the chance. Right now I'm recording everything in my Grimoire...

However, I have been looking up some stuff and have got some ideas...

But my question is... Is it okay to make one altar to serve Legba, Baron, and Maman? What should I do to make sure they are honored/worshipped fairly?

Remember, I am a Witch. Plain and simple. I am drawn to these Lwa for some reason that I do not know yet. Even Hecate is stepping out of the situation for these Lwa to come forth, which has never happened before.

So how could I create an altar to reflect my witchcraft (practical and sympathetic, folk-based and traditional) as well as my vodou practices/beliefs?

I also practice magic and use sympathetic and various other types of folk magic. You can make your altar like anyone else would. Not everyone who practices Voodoo works magic though. You can look through my albums and see a few altars there.

Research these Lwa and see what kinds of things they like. Use a seperate goblet for each Lwa. Legba opens the doorways for all the other Lwa so he is always Honored first and Baron and Maman go hand in hand.

I have found that out by research...

Since my Goddesses still are around I was thinking about just making an altar with Baron's, Maman's, and Legba's colors and that will sum up the colors of my Goddesses who all share the same color preferences. (Coincidence? :hahugh:) Such as red, black, purple, white... Also when I do my "robe" that I want to do (not that it's required, although I read a source in which those that work with the Lwa should wear white plus the color of the Lwas) which will be white with a purple/black robe/sash and white head covering.

Then from there up just add whatever works for me...
