oh no folks. I did not loose it.

Yes this is the made up stone alloy from the Tolkien books. an alloy that is tougher than steel. polishes like silver that never rusts. and is lighter than stell. etc. etc.

Now there are many minerials that are discovered ,renamed or given an additional name for something based on a popular fantasy movie,tv show or books. a good example is tigeriron. Tigeriron has another name it goes by, Mugglestone. So later it recieved an additional name for it. you guessed it. Harry Potter stone.

So here is a bit of fun. Nowoffhand there are no steel alloys that never rust. even stainless can eventually rust if given the opportunity. titianium can rust and is greyish.

now we have mines that are named after this.

One such place is Mithril Resources Ltd.
this place is located in Australia and from what i gathered on them. they deal with discovering and exploring nickel-copper sulphide resources in Australia. they also deal with gold, uranium and mineral sands.

offhand there is a druid order that is called Order of the Mithril Star. Since i am not a druid i will neither recommend it or condemn it.

Aye, I intend to get titanium chain mail worked into a jacket eventually. (I live in a REALLY tough neighborhood) though that will require a lot of looking after... if they do find something lighter, stronger, and shinyer than steel that wont rust, I want it. XD

well titanium rusts. and the problem is that if it's exposed to an extremely high temperature , it could become radioactive.

also just curious, where do they make titanium chain shirts? steel chain mail shirts i know of.

Actually, I'm getting it custom-made, a friend of mine makes chain armour. He gets his supplies from http://theringlord.com/
