View Full Version : Joining In Rituals, etc.

I was wondering if, as a Christian Witch, any of you participated in rituals of others.
What I mean is, if you have friends who are of the other paths, do you join their circles, celebrations, rituals, etc.
If you don't, why?
If you do, why?
I'm just really confused because I don't want to join them and mess it up if my energy is not in sync and such, but I hate being left out as well.
So what is your reasoning?
(Sorry if I'm not explaining the situation right. I'm so tired right now.)

It would really depend on what your beliefs are, and if they clash with the other's beliefs (and if so, how much). Me, I don't believe that Jesus is the only way to reach the Divine, like most Christians. I believe that most religions are all different paths to the same unknown God(ess), the Divine, and that as long as you seek the truth and goodness and love that is the Divine that your path is in the right.
I've never had the chance or invitiation to join in a circle or ritual, but if the day came, this is what I would do: I would sit down and learn as much about the ritual or spell as I could (go through step by step), and ask the intentions of the spell as well as any other questions you might have. After that, meditate on or pray about it to see if it would feel right with you and your beliefs.
If you decide that you would like to join in, you may want to sit down and make some changes to the ritual or spell so it encompasses your beliefs and theirs. For example, they may have lines that say things like "God and Goddess" or "Lord and Lady"- for some this may be fine as they see two sides to one holy being. For me, I would feel more comforatable if it was changed to something like "the Divine" "the Spirit" or "Holy Spirit".
It's all a matter of personal preference. As long as all involved feel that they are comforatable with all aspects of the spell or ritual and all have the same intentions then there should be no reason that you cant' join in.
I hope I helped- some things are hard to explain but I hope I expained everything well enough to be helpful. :)

I've never participated in any group rituals myself... Partially because I don't know of anyone else on my path in the area (Christian Witches are pretty rare in my corner of Nova Scotia) and I was never invited to participate in any of my friends' rituals.
I would like to try some group work sometime... Just to see what it's like. :)

Well I tell you what. If I knew any Christian witches in my area, they would be more than welcome to come join my rituals with me, if they wanted to. Depending on how it turned out, it could be a very positive learning experience. And anyway, I know what it feels like to not have anybody else to practice rituals with, just because your belief system is so "out there" that even most people on the fringe think you're nuts. Naturally we'd have to discuss what compromises should be made first, because there are certain things I would not like to be done, and I am sure the Christian witches I'd be talking to would probably like me not to do certain things as well. If the compromises cannot be agreed upon then there probably wouldn't be a ritual, but I would nevertheless be more than willing to discuss it at least, and to see where it goes.

I'm not a Christian or a witch but as a Pagan that offers open rituals I'd like to give you my opinion.
What you believe about the nature of divinity and deity is generally unimportant to a ritual just so long as you are willing to believe in the efficacy of it. That is, just so long as you are willing to participate in raising energy and sending it in the direction that a ritual leader asks of you then your energy will be in sync.
Now, the rituals I lead and usually attend are almost always focused on specific deities so if you are uncomfortable worshipping deities outside of Christendom, I can see the conflict. However, I often attend rituals in honor of deities that I don't worship and I don't find any problems.
I understand some group rituals tend to focus more on workings of magic and perhaps they don't call on deity at all. In my experience, your personal belief about and relationship with deity is also unimportant at this point, again, just so long as you work with the group.
I don't think your beliefs inherently mark your energy in a way that causes it to not work with someone who believes differently. If you are looking for community and there are rituals available for you to attend, I suggest you give it a try. See how the energy feels and how you feel. I think it is best to go with a positive outlook and give it your best. You are made of the same star-stuff that anyone else is
ETA: I just remembered! In one of the groups I attend we have a gentleman who identifies primarily as Christian and he is always a joy to circle with.
