Someone else, I don't remember who, linked to this very same article (on another site) somewhere else.
It's a good vent, but I don't consider it a serious reply. All the letter shows from an analytical level is that we know how to stoop to a fool's level.

no i dont look at it like a fools reply.. I think its good to see the comparisons between the two belief systems...
I hadn't seen this before, sorry for the duplication...

*smiles* You didn't duplicate it, Shnen...he said it was on another site.
There's a link on his page as well to a response I think is much better. *shrugs* I just don't see much value in throwing the same things back at someone. "Your God doesn't heal" "Oh yeah, well yours doesn't either!"

I thought that both arguments were ridiculous. Neither proved their point in any way, shape, or form. Both made wild, outrageous, broad generalizations, and it's obvious to me that neither one knew what they were talking about in these letters.
I could go through and pick each argument apart... maybe later when I have a little more coffee. But for now I'll just say "Foo" to both of them.

I found the xtian letter rather hilarious, especially the point about him finding a parking spot faster with his Jesus-magic. I don't think anyone really takes seriously a fanatical guy.

I agree that neither were trying to see the truth and validity in the others religions. The author of the rebuttal acted as if they had a right to believe as they choosed but the other man did not:
"The Power behind Wicca and Paganism can't be an entity who doesn't exist. You have been duped and brainwashed to be guilty and afraid since birth."
Anyone can answer a question with a question or an insult with an insult. Then they walk away thinking that they've "won" when infact they've said very little. I think the comparisons could have been useful if it were along the lines of:
"The majority of serious Witches DON'T spend a bunch of money on anything related to Witchcraft. Some do, but thats more often connected to the "new age" movement which isnt the same as Witchcraft. Only the Witch can make the magic and we realize that nothing more is NEEDED. But to be fair Christians also spend money on religious offerings, atleast SOME of which is certainly in the form of 'if I give so much money I may get my wishes granted by God' which would be a little like your view of magic, wouldn't it?"
But then again that gets rather long winded and we'd rather have snappy comebacks than slightly mature responses, right?

If the enemy is an ass and a fool, and a prating coxcomb, is it meet, think you, that we should also, look you, be an ass and a fool, and a prating coxcomb, in your own conscience now?

The "Jesus and the parking spot" part is causing me just a wee bit of cognitive dissonance here...
Let's see... The Lord God, Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, Shaper of the Universe in all its vast splendor, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnibenevolent (it says so right on the label) took the time to make sure this guy (out of about 6 billion people) found a parking space (?!?!?), meanwhile thousands of people suffer and/or die from starvation, disease, accidents, abuse on a daily basis in spite of their own heartfelt prayers.
Nice deity ya got there, Mister.
Sheesh.
