I recently got my hands on the book Magical Herbal Baths of Santeria, by Carlos Montenegro. I haven't tried any of the baths as of yet. In this book, the author mostly instructs to prepare the herb baths using the standard boil-and-strain method.
The thing is, I've read elsewhere that in Santeria, one never uses dried herbs or boiled herbs. Additionally, I've seen pictures and videos of baths being made by Santeros, and they likewise seem to generally use fresh plants that they just mash or shred.
Is Montenegro giving bad information (I've heard him accused of this) or is it just a cultural difference, like only people from certain areas do it his way?
