Tonight we watched WHAT'S THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN? (Martin Lawrence and Danny De Vito)

The charcter that De Vito plays has a reader as his personal assistant. She is trying to warn him and tells him to pick a card, he does, she says something like, "That's it! It just keeps coming up!"
"What is it?" He says
She tells him to look at it. What is it a picture of?
He says "A guy with 5 daggers in his head. Is that bad?"
She says "Well I guess a guy with 6 daggers in his head would be worse but they don't make that card!"
(I thought it was funny!)

Anyway, I was wondering do you know of other movies that have Tarot Readers and such in them?

In High Low Country (Woody Harleson) they visit a "witch" but I don't think she used cards. So any other card movies?

In another thread someone mentioned that Red Violin is based on a reading. I think I've seen that movie but don't remember seeing a reader in it.

I loved the Red Violin! It does have a tarot reader in it. She more or less marks each "chapter" for lack of a better description. One card is layed out and the story goes on.....then they flash to the reader again, she pulls another card, and the story goes on. It's really neat! ....and such a moving movie!

in live and let die james bond messes with the womans pack so she ends up turning over the lovers card before falling into his arms....
thats the only one i can think of, but some movies (i think) make references to the journey the fool makes through the major arcana

For movies and TV shows with tarot in them go to www.tarottotes.com. They have a contest every month for someone with the most new answers.

Cool site, tarot bear! You guys have listed some fun flicks. When I think about tarot in movies, I immediately think about the James Bond film, "Live and Let Die."

"Now and Then" had the cards in it? Need to watch that movie again. :D

They aren't movies....but there was that one episode of the Simpsons where Lisa has her cards read. (Of course DEATH was one card that came up. But they did a good job of saying it was 'transition' rather than death itself.)....and Guenivere Jones.. It's a new TV series up here (I'm not sure how many other places get it though) Heh... I haven't seen the ep where she uses the cards, but it's shown on a commercial.
Also in RadioActive, Tanya does Tarot readings. :)

Anywhoo..... I'm rambling.

Is "THE GIFT". If you are interested in tarot in any way, then you should def watch this movie. Cate Blanchett has the lead role, and she did a beautiful job. You should all def rent this one very soon!

My middle son got a DVD Player for Christmas and TOMBSTONE was one of the movies he received with it.
They're in TOMBSTONE.
After the OK Coral scene.
The sister-in-laws are in the palor just before the Cowboys start shooting up everything. It's a dark stormy night and I think they playing with them - not reading them. But they are there.

Sadly, I can say I remember Claire reading them on Beverly Hills, 90210.

Wow, I just finished watching The Red Violin after many times of picking it up, then renting something else instead.

It's a wonderful film. Definately recommend it. I like the way the stories weave around each other.

I don't know if this would technically qualify as a tarot reader in a movie, but I think of the movie Kull. Just right after Hercules ;)(Kevin Sorbo) becomes king, he has his future read by his future wife. The deck is a round, but I don't recognise it.

Sad to say, I rented "Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her." (Not a good movie at all, in my opinion.) Calista Flockhart's character is a tarot reader, and does readings in the movie.

"Brotherhood of the Wolf" has a woman in a brothel reading playing cards.

My hubby loves this movie for some reason, and finally got me to watch it last night. I didn't care for it though, I like for there to be some sort of storyline, and I just couldn't get the hang of this one. Could have been the wine, though!
