New Moon tonight. The new moon is for new beginnings, love, romance, health, and generally the time to draw things toward you.

This is the time that I usually do money spells and start new things, such as blending magickal oils or making magickal tools. I'll later charge them under the full moon.

One simple spell is to take your money out under the moonlight and ask Lady Moon to increase your wealth and bless you financially. Let her light bathe your money as you do so.

Another spell is the Money Bottle. Get a jar or bottle and each day place your pocket change in it. Say as you do so, "As this jar fills, so may my wealth increase tenfold. So be it." You will find your situation will have improved over several months of doing this.

A general spell for increase involves a potato. Get a potato with eyes (white sprouts). Stick some toothpicks in its middle like spokes of a wheel. Suspend it in a glass of water by the toothpicks so that the lower part of the potato is submerged. The potato will begin to sprout and grow. Hold up the potato-glass every day and say, "As this grows, so grows my wealth tenfold. So be it." Do this first and last thing every day. As it grows, your financial situation will improve.

Some Wiccans like the following spell: Place three pennies, a twenty dollar bill, and a small quartz stone in a green cloth and tie it with a red ribbon. Make several of these and tack one over each door. Each time you enter through the door, prosperity enters with you and looks over you and your entire household.

Another traditional Wiccan spell is to burn a candle for prosperity. Take a green candle on a Friday night of a waxing moon. Rub it vigorously with oil while chanting this rune: "Moon, Moon, Lady Moon - Bring me wealth and bring it soon - May your blessings flow to me - Like golden waves across the sea." Now light the candle and say, "This flame is my fortune. As it burns bright so my fortune grows." Sit quietly for 5 to 10 minutes contemplating the good fortune coming your way. Burn the candle for a while each night until the moon is full. Then bury it beneath your doorstep, thanking the moon.

To further address money issues: Money has an energy, and the quality of our relationship to it is based on our emotions. The better we feel about money and the more deserving we feel about it, the more of it we will generally have. Tell yourself 14 times a day for 14 days that money is limitless and good and that you deserve lots of it. When you can feel that inside is when your energy becomes in sync with the energy of money.

To help engender this synchronization try this: Think of a really good relationship that you have - a relationship that you are really excited about and happy with and makes you feel good about yourself. Maybe it's how you feel about a pet, a parent, a mate, a friend, a mentor - whatever, as long as it's unambiguously good. Get into the feelings of it and wrap yourself up in it until you can really feel how good this relationship is. Now, think about money and transfer these positive feelings over to money. Do this back and forth until you can work yourself into and wrap yourself up in a state where you feel just as good and happy and excited about money as you do about your good relationship. Do this several times a day for a week until it becomes your automatic reaction to money. Make this your new relationship - put the same feelings towards it as you would into a new love affair. You will find it will respond positively to your new attitude and energy towards it.

While on the subject, it is important to consider balance. Most people consider the solution to having too little money is to get more money. However, if a person is out of balance and overspends themselves at $1,500 per month, they will be just that much more out of balance and overspent at $15,000 per month. An important starting point in establishing a new, prosperous, and fulfilling relationship with money is to get into balance with it. Right-size your life so you live within your means, whatever that may be. You may not be all that fancy for a while, but you will immediately appreciate having enough money to go around. There is a calmness and centeredness that comes with living within your means. This will allow you to establish a firm foundation to build a more prosperous life from.

Remember too that money is a reflection of our energy. If you need more money, put out more energy. A low energy person who can't get off their duff is hardly going to get the same return as a high energy go-getter.

By combining the spells with a new relationship with money, you will undoubtedly find yourself in a better financial position in the near future. Good luck with this, and may you prosper!

I have been thinking that one way to get more prosperous is by being more generous. Not only because sending energy brings you energy (karmic law), but also because you feel richer if you give. For years I avoided contributing to causes that I felt worthy simply because I always felt too poor. Now I've started to change that (slowly) by helping the local library to buy new books. I feel I'm a generous, prosperous, kind woman!

New moon: I'm sitting here with my head covered in henna paste. Changing my hair color to red. I'm so exited! Let this be symbolic of greater changes taking place in my life as the year changes and a new moon cycle starts.

We were talking about the Money Growth Jar in another thread, and I'm going to see if I can find the thread where I posted it and bump it up. I've used it for about a year and a half and while the last year has been a struggle, I'm getting by.

Chryssi.....remember that it's the intent that matters, use whatever you have available :D

New Moon is also a time to set goals. Writing out clear goals helps you to focus on them. There are many different methods of doing this. Anthony Robbins has an exercise where you write a story about what you would do with a large sum of money, or the perfect job, etc.....really getting into the feeling of prosperity, fun, etc. and being as outrageous as you want in the story, having fun with it.

Another effective practice is to work your new moon magick around the wheel of the year. For instance, in some areas this is the time of year to plant some bulbs and trees that bloom in spring. Likewise, you may want to lay the foundation now for what you expect to see bloom in the spring. We'll be staying indoors more and being less active, so this is a good time to meditate and reflect upon what you want to manifest in your life in the coming year.

Recording the meditations and rituals that you do in your Book of Shadows help you focus on them. When you look back upon them in the spring, you'll be able to measure your progress.

For some flea markets and garage sales I've done in the last year I sprinkled regular ground cinnamon and basil into an envelope. I annointed it with prosperity oil that I had purchased and kept it in the cash box. Each sale I think I did pretty ok!

I love this thread, especially since it involves money spells which I am in need of now and the timing is perfect--New Moon and all.

I'm a sick-ticket when it comes to connecting things like that. You guys think I'm strange when it comes to searches and smilies...I will usually connect dates or times or addresses with something that's going on. (An event or happening, etc.)

The 2003 thing just jumped right out at me. :p

New Moon Sunday

Sunday? i have Monday on my calendar... oh well.

i have been working the New Moon on a regular basis for the past six months or so, even more intensely than the Full Moon.
i see this time as a time for deep, personal work. for introspection and a fuller understanding of those more shadowy aspects of our subconscious. by casting light into these shadows, we can get a firmer grasp on some of those underlying things that cause many of the negative aspects of our personalities.
sometimes this isn't pleasant, and that is why i used to actively avoid doing New Moon work.
but it became apparent to me (finally!) that until these areas were understood and dealt with, no money spells, etc were going to work, because the unseen negative forces would constantly be sabotaging any conscious efforts i might make.

an analogy...
i used to rent this funky old house in the woods. the roof over the kitchen leaked, and the rainwater damaged the linoleum floor. i told the landlord, and when the weather got better, he replaced the floor.
of course, the follwing year the roof still leaked, and the floor got damaged once more. but that spring, he replaced the linoleum once again! i moved out shortly after, but it wouldn't surprise me if this pattern continued.

maybe he should have tried working the New Moon!

I've never looked it up anywhere - but what I've been told is that the full moon has power for three days before and three days after. With new moon, there is the dark moon phase right before which is used for powerful banishing magic. It would be my opinion that you'd have three days after the new moon to do new moon magic, but due to the dark moon phase I don't think you'd have the three days before.

Just my opinion, from what I think is a reliable source but not necessarily true :)
