Hello everyone!I have received a gift, which I am very happy for, precious stones runes(made from onix).I have received them from a friend who bought them from Iceland. They seem to work, but I am unsatisfyed with having such special runes, and not use them at their full potential. The runes seem to work, but in the paper I found in the package, with the runes in a leather sacket, describe only a way you can use them. You put your hand in the leather sacket, and the first rune you draw is your forever.I draw the M rune. The description was that I will soon move in a new house ,I have a new vision(all descriptions are written in Italian language,I understand Italian, but not perfect). Then I put it back and my friend put her hand in the leather sacket and draw the equilibrium rune. Also my lover. His mother was with us,but she did not want to draw. Then I took all the runes and put them back in the sacket.Later on ,something unexplainable happened.Mihail found a rune in my bed, that was the rune of destiny. How in the Earth it got there? And no other rune, but the rune of destiny.i have read something in a book and seen a video long ago, with some kind of viking rune ritual, where the divinator found out the future and also asked questions, where he reiceived the true answers.I want to know how can I do such rituals, and how to start being better with my new runes...I mean I can't beleive that they can be used in only a way,the way in the instructions in the package,it would mean they would not be used at their full potential.Thanks.

Runes are wonderful tools, they take a bit of practice to get to grips with (for me at least). In this sub forum there I think there will be posts mentioning their uses - but here I'll gloss over how I use the runes.
Divination/rune casting - You can ask the runes questions, as you have been with already by picking runes out of their pouch. As you get more comfortable and familiar with the runes and their meanings you can expand from single rune readings to 'spreads', a spread is like a tarot spread - you pick the runes one by one and depending on the spread you have chosen, the runes get placed in different positions and each position has a meaning - so aswel as the individual meanings of the runes themselves they are read in context to the meaning of the position they are placed. In larger and more advanced spreads - the runes meaning deepen not only in context of their positions but also the other runes in the spread - the themes they describe build upon one another, hopefully leaving you with the answer to your question.
Two websites I've pulled quickly of google list some spreads - http://www.adula.com/runes_spreads.htm
http://www.tarahill.com/runes/runediv.html
I think they use a different runic alphabet to yours but the spread should still be ok, and there is nothing wrong with inventing new ones to fit your needs. Eg - X X X Three runes laid in a row, the first is past influences, the second is current events and the third is possible future.... That's just a simple one.
Runic charms
Runes are a writing system, so naturally magic and charms evolved out of these. Charms are made by writing/carving/burning runes onto objects are are carried around with the person - the charms may affect the person - eg, fertility, protection, or affect the object - eg, keep sword from breaking or food from spoiling (there is an interesting story about the runes XXX and why they are put on very strong alcoholic drinks!). The runes can be written side by side but I've seen them merged into a single character (bindrunes, are magical in themselves) - very much like how sigils are basically the first letter of every word in a sentence (with multiples canceled out) all blended into a single character.
Runes can be put on everything, from a peice of leather sewn inside your wallet to icing that decorates cakes. It is a very nice and subtle system you can use!
Another quick link pulled of google http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/charms.html
Rune magic - some ideas - http://www.tarahill.com/runes/runemagi.html
When performing magic I often do it all in my head and visualise, because of this I don't do things physically as much as I used to, but one thing I did when I used runes in my workings was to engrave runes onto candles (stick or tealights), the runes and their placements had an affect on what energies they'd invoke, as well as the colour of the candle I should add. I'd evoke the Gods (the Norse pantheon as it was a Nordic system), concentrate on visualising the desired effect, pour my intent into the candle and light it, let it burn down over a night or three....
One last thing about runes jumping out at you (even when the pouch is sealed and tucked away) my runes often do that as do those of other rune owners. I generally look for the message the rune is trying to tell me, or embody the energies the rune represents for whatever challenges lie ahead. Sorry about the long post, those links I've not checked too well, so I can't vouch for the information there, they should give you some nice ideas I hope :)
And finally - MW has loads of good stuff on runes here :) Hope it helps!

Hey,that is interesting.I will try it right away. And it is good that you can use them to do spells. What are your experiences with runes?Would they save someone from a future uninspired decision? What about asking them a love question?

I've had plenty of positive experiences with the runes. I don't divine with them nearly as much as I do other systems, because they are one of the last systems I've learned (I like tarot, scrying and I ching). The rune casts are often pretty accurate - though it did take alot of work for me to go beyond the 'book' answers (one word summaries of the rune) to the many nuances of meaning that I feel the runes hold for me now. I loved how I'd start to see runes everywhere and when my runes would just pop up in my pockets or on my pillow...
Magic wise - I think they are very powerful. I love making charms and talismans and I runes and bindrunes are superb for that - easy to carve/draw/paint and don't take up much space.
As for asking me about "Would they save someone from a future uninspired decision? What about asking them a love question?" I believe yes, but that really depends on the caster.
Any new form of divination should be practiced before you ask it the very heavy questions (don't ask who you should marry or anything like that on your first few casts babe, wait till you 'trust' the runes) but then what you ask is really down to you. Most questions we ask are ones we know the answer too already, but we need a sounding wall to remind, reassure and reaffirm what we already know to help us make a difficult choice, but then there are completely open questions :)

I have experienced more with my runes, and they are so complex and accurate.I used them on a couple of friends, and I got amazing results, like guessing their past, their present and their future.Past the answers in the book,I have given an intuitive interpretation, and I could not beleive how correct I was,I mean seeing my friends eyes pop out with surprise. The runes even told one of my friends that he will reiceive the fuits of his work, and it happens now...
