Is anyone here familiar with aleph-bet cards? They are (for lack of a better explaination) the Hebrew version of the tarot. I have been working with them for two weeks (made them myself after collecting information on the meaning/number of each letter), however it is difficult to find resources on them. I know a lot of tarot is based off of the aleph-bet, but this is different. I find the aleph-bet cards are very natural for me and my readings have been incredibly accurate...they've also helped me keep my number-correspondences orderly for when I do numerology or astral charting.

Hi, AmbivalentMirage:

Since the cards you're asking about seem to be specifically tarot, I'm going to move your thread to the Tarot forum. It might seem silly, but Divination is for all other forms of the art and the Tarot forum is specifically for Tarot. I think you might get more responses to your question there.

I was going to post my question in the tarot forum, but since the cards aren't exactly tarot, I wasn't sure WHERE to post. Thanx for the help, though. :)

Hello, AmbivalentMirage!

I'm sorry, but I don't know about these cards. They sound kind of interesting. Are there any good internet links on these cards?

I've been unable to find any specific sites about the cards...however, if you do a search on qabbalah correspondences in tarot, you are likely to find many sites that touch on the subject. I found a wonderful site I was going to share (it wasn't very specific, but helped with making my cards), however I accidentally deleted my IE history. *pout* I'll search for it tonight and post it. :)

Can you scan and post some PIX of your cards?

I have yet to add any pictures to my cards since I haven't found enough info to decide which correspondence is most important per letter. =/ When I do have them completed, however, I'll gladly post some pics. :)

So I used my limited (you will realize just how limited I mean) art skills to create some rough pictures on a few of the cards last night. :) Here they are!

My scanner did my cards quite an injustice. :-P If you have any questions about the meanings/symbolisms, just lemme know. :)

Well, since I have some free time, I figured I would explain the three cards shown in my previous post.

The first card on the left is Heh. Heh is the fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It denotes an opening and a view. Often, when I get this card, it does not have to do with anything in regards to an opportunity or upcoming opening. Most of the time it tells me that there is something unsafe and uncertain that is working as a portal for the evil eye (a Jewish concept). The evil eye is a jealous, angry, hating, or envious glare or attitude from another person (or yourself!) It tends to cause havok and general mischeif in a person's life. Anyhow, the blue is used in the iris of the eye because blue is the colour of the evil eye. This is not to say that people with blue eyes are evil. It's merely a spiritual colour correspondence. Heh speaks of prayer and communication to G-d, and if a negative or constricting card comes before it, it might suggest that there is break in communication with the divine.

The second card is Zayin. Zayin is the letter of elevation, ascention to power, and much growth. Often this card appears in readings for people whose lives have experienced much positive growth and change. It's also the card of the sword, or spiritual weaponry. It is a direct send from the divine and is carried by the wind (air). Zayin also speaks of disposing, or decisive, intelligence. Decision making is tied into Zayin.

Lastly is Ayin. I love Ayin. It speaks of spiritual vision, psychic abilities, and premonitions. I chose the colour green for the eye because green is a very psychic colour (aside from indigo, deep blues, and purples). The blue around the extending "mind-line" represents the veil between the physical and spiritual. It is a mystical card and often found in readings that involve enigmatic people. It is dark and elusive (Saturn and black) and is almost never in a calm or peaceful reading. It's very active and assertive. Once again, it is a direct send from the divine.

If you have any questions about these or any other letters, just lemme know. :) I hope you learnt something! I know I'm learning about these quickly, and I couldn't be happier. =)

Thanks for sharing! How creative you are!
The Zayin puts me in mind of the Eight of Wands.
Very interesting.

Thanx for the compliments and links, guys. :) *loves his new cards* I haven't had much time to "break them in", but the few readings I have done have been AMAZINGLY accurate and the number correspondences are helping me work on my numerology skills. I'm really excited, as I am sure you can tell. lol *bounces*

I've done a few readings with my cards, here at MW. The readings have been going very well and I'm exceptionally happy with the results. However, I've received a lot of questions about my card deck. So, I'm bumping this post up and explaining some of my layout methods and other workings with the cards.

For the basic decision-making reading, I draw three cards. I look over the meanings, try to get some grasp on the situation, and then review the numerology of the reading.

For more complex issues, general readings, and future readings, I draw seven cards. I usually group the first three as being the primary cards of the reading and allow the next four to play off of those. I'm not sure why...I just feel right doing that, lol.

For relationships, I draw nine cards. Three represent the querant, three represent the mate, and the other three represent the relationship. I review each group separately and then collectively.

I also do workings with names by checking the values of the letters of each name. For instance, I'll use my own.

Name: Daniyyel
Letters: Daleth, Nun, Yod, Yod, Aleph, Lamed (My name is Hebrew, the alphabet of the cards, so I can spell it as it would be in the original form. ;) For names of other cultures, I use comparable letters to assemble the name.)
Primary Element: Air/Earth
Primary Focus: Extroversion
Primary Colour: Blue-Indigo
Energies: Illuminating, Imaginative, Willful, Scintillating, Faithful, Triumphal
Primary Planet: Venus
Numerological Significance: Six
General reading: This person has a strong imagination and a desire to help people by illuminating situations impartially. Their strong will allows them to take their dreams and make them reality. They add an often disrupting sense of energy and excitement to situations and are faithful to friends they have made. They are often seen as being a "goody-two-shoes" or "Mr. Perfect", but strive only to do what is best for the collective of humanity.

That's just a small example. I tried to be impartial on my personality reading, lol. ;) Anyhow, I hope that answers some questions!

*bump* Just some info for those to whom I offered aleph-bet readings. I still do the numerological/name readings as well.

Greetings,

I have the Kabbalah Deck, Pathway to the Tarot done by Edward Hoffman. Now, this deck has no imagery, just the Hebrew letter, but the accompanying book is more than decent. I haven't used the deck for any readings (in the traditional sense), but I find them an excellent resource. Fascinating work, by the way, I must say I have found the images you've chosen for the letters most interesting, particularly Ayin.

I also have the Stairs of Gold, which has the Latin, Hebrew and Sanskrit letter associations, has been quite insightful...I would love to discuss your cards further :)
