Well, here I am... about to embark upon a new adventure: Teaching Reiki.
I've taught individuals before, given attunements, given talks about reiki, etc. But, I've never taught an actual class.
So, here are some questions that I'd like to ask:
1. Have any of you taught a class on reiki?
2. If so, what specifically did you find worked well in that class? How did you engage the students? Was there anything that didn't work well?
3. If you haven't taught but were a student: what did you like about your teacher? What did they do that made you excited about learning? What did you NOT like that they did or did not do? (this can be about reiki or any class, sometimes teaching methods are more important than the subject matter)
4. How long should a level 1 class be?
We are putting together a curriculum now, advice is appreciated. :)

Level I should be about eight hours with a lunch break---depending on how many you have.
Written material is important as well as the history.
And being open minded---as I know you are---about what each person may or may not experience during class. I and II for me were not taught by someone very spiritual--religious--but not very spiritual and because I am on many different levels the things I did experience I was made to feel were WRONG. When actually they were very cool and deep experiences with Reiki, with energy and with connections.
That's my .2.
And a side note on why that is important---tonight I did Reiki on my new psychic friend and let me just say it was soooooo powerful energy wise and message wise. The colors were back and she saw all the same colors that I did. She was getting messages for me, she was getting messages for her and the whole time I was just amazed by the amount of energy that was flowing in so many directions. And at times it was coming back to me and going over my head. At first I was like, this is not right, I need to ground, but then it came to me this is what is supposed to be happening. It was the first time that I could see and feel the energy going from the clients head to the toes, circling back around and going back up and continuing in a circle/rotating motion. It was awesome. I used the pendulum and that was awesome--to follow the energy and to see it still flow. There was an area of concern for blockage and it was wide open. And she was blown away by how powerful the session was. We just sat and talked for almost three hours after. :uhhuhuh:
Had my Reiki I and II teacher been there she would have had a heart attack. :hahugh:
Good Luck, Lis---you are meant to do this and you are going to rock. You have so much to share and your students are really going to be blessed taking Reiki from you.

Unfortunately we never did get this scheduled. Too many different people's schedules to work around and what felt like not enough time. We may try again next summer, with better planning. :)

I have ended up teaching Reiki1 and loved the interaction and when the student has discovered the energy within themselves the WOW...and when a fellow student has felt the healing energy from them......
Hope happens soon for you....
take care...
