After bumping up the threads on cleansing I had an experience I thought I'd share.
My mama-in-law gave me her cards. I probably had them for 3 or 4 months before I actually took up reading. I have no idea how long she had them before that. So I decided they needed and extreme and through cleansing.
I've set aside every Sunday morning to cleanse myself of negativity. So I decided that would be the perfect time to cleanse the cards as well. I took the cards to my altar in the farie garden, along with a representation of all the elements. I wanted to cleanse them outside to use the power of the sun to help cleanse them too. I laid my cards on the altar in a bed of cedar shavings and set up the other items as well. I prayed over them and sprinkled salt over everything.
I went inside for my cleansing shower. Now, did I mention that the kids participate in a Jr. Rodeo? Well it just so happenes that this was Rodeo Sunday - the second Sunday of every month. So after my shower I herded up kids, jeans, boots, hats. We ate breakfast and straighted up the kitchen. Then we checked the rigging bags and loaded up the car. Rustled up the kids and the Hubby and we headed out for the Rodeo.
Now, this is about an hour and a half drive. We were probably 20 minutes into that drive when I realized I'd left the cards outside. Which wouldn't have been so bad except for the new puppy who (still) likes to drag things around the yard - and it looked like rain.:( We were running late as it was so I knew turning back was not a possibility. The only thing I knew to do was to protect the cards as best I could and not worry about them anymore.
I projected a bubble of white light around my altar, in my mind I burned a black candle and I visuilized the puppy OUT of my garden. That was all I could do. I didn't think about it any more. We spent the day at the rodeo and had a good time.
I didn't even think about the cards till we got to our little town. It was then that I realized that it hadn't rained. We drove through town, headed out our little rural community. When we pulled into the drive I noticed there wasn't cards strewn all over the yard! I helped to unload the car then went to the garden. Everything was exactly as I left it. I broke the bubble, gave a prayer of thanks, gathered my things and headed into the house, just as it was starting to sprinkle.:)
