On May 9, 2009, the Phoenix Pagan Pride Day Committee will be holding an open Beltane Ritual, picnic and silent auction at Los Olivos Park, which is located at 2802 E. Devonshire (28th Street & Devonshire).

That sounds great. How does a silent auction work?

For the silent auction. There will be a small slip of paper next to each item, and you put your name and bid amount on the paper for the item you want. When the auction ends, the person on the paper with the highest bid wins that item.

But if you really want to win something, you do need to make sure no one outbids you. Because you can bid more than once on an item. So if you get outbid, then you can outbid them and then they can outbid you and so on. Its works very much like ebay except on paper.
