I was thinking about returning to college as a Creative Writing major... But I'm not sure.
How would I pay for it?
When I went before, my parents were the ones to pay my way through college. I mean.. I had 2 loans which I'm paying back.. but I don't really know how I would pay for college.
Is there any advice you all could offer as help for me? The school is Indiana University (http://www.iub.edu) and I've already gone for a year.. taken most of the basic classes needed for my Education major.. most of which would transfer!
So.. any advice? I'd really like to go back, and am married (will that help with loans/grants?) and I really really need some help.
*showers all in sugar cookies*
Thanks in advance!!!!

I think that's great and I wish you the best.
From what I hear there are all kinds of monies available - if you know where to look.
Unfortunately I have no real answers. Hopefully others will.
Again good luck and best wishes on your journey.:)

I found what I want.
English-Creative Writing (http://www.indiana.edu/~engweb/2designing04.html)
That's what I want to do. I can feel it deep inside that that's what I want to do. And who knows.. maybe I can write a book while I'm there, eh? :)
Thanks, Witchy, for your kind words. I got phone numbers of the English dept so I can call them to get more info. I hope I can find something out..
And FAFSA is always a good thing. ;)

If you qualify check into low income programs. Some of them will wave most the school fees. Also look into programs at work and at your husbands work sometimes employers offer grants or loans and often scholarships to family members of thier employees.

Ahhhh okay. I was thinking that if you already had a BA degree, you should just try and get an MA unless your BA was completely incompatible with English.
What do you want to do with your degree? I have a BA in English. My Major area was Literature and my minor are was Creative Writing. I teach both. Let me know if I can help you. :)

Good luck Loki! I'm thinking about going back to school, too, to get my MA. I'm still looking into it, though, I'm like you with the money thing.

low income options. ask if these are available. Pell. OTAG the O
is for Oklahoma, so your state may call it something else. It means
Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant. There is another low income grant
but I cant think of the name of it right now....?
You can still qualify for Student loans. Stafford and such. also,
if you have any medical problems that might help you with a
vocational rehab grant.(they pay ALL my tuition) there are other
ways to qualify for voc rehab, but I dont know them all. Also
any state back to school programs.
I would recommend hurrying, after the elections you can expect a
cut in tuition aid funding, and the schools are already speaking of
raising tuition.
