:boing: I'm so excited! After 16 years of marriage and 3 kids my Hubby and I are finally taking a trip!:boing: We've never been a "real" trip together and I'm so excited!:boing: My mom is gonna watch the boys.
We're really only getting to do this thanks to my sis-in-law! (Long story and I won't go into it now. - Love ya sis!:heartthro) Because of her I'll be able to fly down a couple days after Hubby leaves for his business trip. His employer has him staying on the French Quarter so that's where we'll be.
I'm so excited and can hardly wait!:boing: I feel like a kid waiting to go to summer camp. :boing:
I've never been there. Can anybody give me some hints on where to go?:boing:
Care to join me in my HAPPY DANCE?:bigredgri :boing: :sunny: :bigredgri :boing: :sunny:

About 5 years ago we spent a whole Mardis Gras down there and had a blast!!! The other times we have been there we went on a hunt for Anne Rices house and found it (I didn't know there were tours for this stuff) and we went to Lafeyett cemetary and the orphnage and then we went and hunted down pagan shops!! Have some gumbo and boudaine for me!!! Oh I miss that place sooooooooo!:boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing::boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing::boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing::boing: :boing: :boing::boing::boing:
Anne Rice has a shop near her house and it's worth it just to go see the Lestat and Louis and Armand dolls!!

I'm jealous too! I've always wanted to go there, the closest I've gotten is someone bringing me beads from MardiGras last year.
I have a distant relative who I think still has a restaurant there....it has some sort of a football theme since he used to be a pro player. He's the one the Giants traded for Y.A. Tittle because of his big mouth.............Louis Cordileone.

Witchy,
While you are here, definitely go walk through St. Louis cemetary #1(right next to F.Q.), and Marie Leveau's Voodoo Shop on Bourbon st near corner of St. Ann and Bourbon.
As for eats, try the Gumbo Shop on St. Peters, and if you want to try Emeril's food, he has NOLA in the Quarter, or his first restaurant in the Warehouse district a mile or two away. Pick up a Zagats guide when you get down here for other good eats.
Have a great trip!

New Orleans has so many good resteraunts you'll never be able to hit them all. Other attractions are the Riverwalk, the Aquarium of the Americas, the zoo, the House of Blues, various steamboats on the Miss. R., and the wax museum (in addition to historical displays, it's also got a great horror section!) There are numerous tours you can go on, and you should have no trouble finding information on them. I've heard about a tour of the cemetaries (and N.O. has some doozies). Tour haunted New Orleans, or something along those lines. As a Louisiana native let me welcome you to our sultry and spicey state and Lessaiz les bon temps roulet!
