I'd like to learn a lot more about Northern Mythology, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good books to read on the topic, I already intend on getting 'The Real Middle Earth' by Brian Bates (http://www.amazon.com/Real-Middle-Earth-Ian-Holm/dp/B000MV8AHC) (you can read part of it on Google Books (http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=BXRTMwCKDAcC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_summary_r&cad=0), if you want), but, I was wondering if there were any good books on the Myths and Lore of Northern Europe.
Thanks for any help at all.
David.

Well there's always the primary sources - the Eddas, the sagas etc.
You can find them online here: http://www.northvegr.org/lore/main.php
or check with pretty much any library.
If you'd rather start out with compilations of the stories I can recommend Gods and Myths of Northern Europe by HR Ellis-Davidson and Norse Myths by Kevin Crossley-Holland.
I also enjoyed the graphic novel The Gods of Asgard by Erik Evensen, although I wouldn't rely on that as my main source of information.

Thanks for all that info, I think they have the Holland book in a book shop near me, so, I might pick it up (actually, there's quite a few books I'd like to get there, and they have a good, IMO anyway, section on Northern Mythology). I think the Ellis-Davidson book is in my library, and thanks for the link too. I might check out the graphic novel too sometime.
Thanks again :).
