I cant call myself a pagan really. although one day i really would like to. I have been reading alot. i havent been here for a few months and when i came back today and read some of the newer posts, i realized i know less and less than i thought i knew. I only know like 3 names of gods and goddesses and even then i dont know any of their stories or anything. I have to admit that i feel a little embarassed admitting me lack of knowledge to all of you but i was just wondering if you could give me the names of books and websites that you think are the best for learning. I used to have a few books but i threw 3 of them away because i think i stumled apon somewhat satanic books...i think. The only book i have left if WICCA: a guide for the solitary practitioner

okay now that i have admitted my stupidity: PLEASE help me, i would really like to learn more.

Hello Mystic Twilight! This website is fabulous if you have an inquistive mind. If you want to learn more about deities, you can ask questions in this forum. The members here are quite knowledgable. Don't be shy; ask specific or general questions. People are nice and would like to help you out.

Also, if want to know more about deities from websites, check out the thread stuck at the top of this forum. It is helpful.

Try something like Bullfinch's Mythology. It has Greek and Norse myths in it, and you will get a feel for their Gods and stories that way. You probably can find a copy for cheap at www.half.com.

Good luck!

Okay, as a scholar in the real world, I will say first that I recommend history, anthropology and mythology before any "Pagan" titles. That said, here are some Pagan titles I would suggest you start with:

"Triumph of the Moon: A History of Modern Pagan Witchcraft" by Ronald Hutton is a must as is "Drawing Down the Moon" by Margot Adler - these will tell you where the modern Pagan movement came from.

You'll find both discussed in the "Books" section here.

There are some fairly good mythology websites too. Here's a couple to get you started.
