I saw a set of these in Barnes and Noble last night. This is a set of runes by Ralph Blum (not one of my or Rick's favorites). None of the boxes were open but it looks like they are the Elder Futhark, and I couldn't tell if they were a method of divination or meditation. Some of the reviews on the back of the box were from New Age writers, none of whose names I can remember this morning
They're marked down to $4.99 from $19.99 right now at B&N. Wondering if anyone has a set of these and can supply more info. I'm thinking about buying a set or two as gifts for nonpagan friends and relatives. When I did a search, both Amazon and B&N sites came up but the links are no longer any good.

They sound kind of interesting, Freyja, so I had to look them up on the net. Here's a link to the B&N site.

Based on the given info, I think that these runes? are used for meditation. The person draws a rune each day and meditates with it. I put a question mark next to the word "runes," since they really don't sound like Odin's runes that I know. The set comes with five Brazilian stones.
If you want to get runes for your friends, why don't you make a set? Making a set will give a nice personal touch to the gift.

Duh, why didn't I think of that? And I bought bags and bags of glass stones at a clearance sale last year, shaped like stars and snowflakes! I'd imagine I could type up a brief list of meanings......thanks!
Was really curious about these, especially why they haven't sold. They're marked down about $15!

I really like the idea of the star and snowflake shaped runes for this time of the year. Actually, I think that star shaped runes would be appropriate all year round. Do you change runes according to the time of year? For example, I don't think that runes made from shells would be appropriate for the winter. Or do you just use a standard set?

I think that's up to the individual. One might change sets depending on where they are in their spiritual growth as well as according to the wheel of the year. I am partial to a set of birch runes made for me by a special friend and use them for everything, but I would not object to using a set of snowflake runes for a special winter ritual.
When I was more active with my tarot, I switched decks according to how I was feeling at the time. Working with my Motherpeace deck seems to bring me a stronger connection to the Goddess.
