Ok in this book Rune Power by Kenneth Meadows I'm having trouble understanding this paragraph.
"Misunderstanding has been caused by presenting the angular patterns- the staves- as the Runes themselves. The Runes are a process by which the fundamental potencies are enabled to be conveyed."
What does he mean the process? I'm not sure maybe I'm just thinking too deep.
Please help!

Basically it means the symbols, what we look at and say "that's Fehu" or "that's Isa" are not the Runes. The Runes are the concepts behind the symbols, the symbols just help us to see them visually.

...well, let's see...
Damn! Why can't ya ask an easy question, like "How do you kill an ogre?" 8O
OK... what he's talking about really has to do with Rune magic, & not so much with Runic divination (the Runes are a system of magic; divination with them is kinda a happy side effect). Technically, he's wrong... the sigils are Runes... and technically, he's right... Rune power is the raw, primal, elemental energy that binds atomic particles together... when you cut or draw a Rune, you're channeling that energy in a certain pattern to obtain a certain result. The word "Rune" has been interpreted as "mystery", or "secret", or "whisper"... he's referring to understanding the secret mysteries at work when you use the sigils...
I hope that made sense...

Thanks to both of you, sometimes hearing it a different way helps the concept make sense.
