Ever made your own hope chest?

I didn't make my own, but my dad makes wonderful boxes and I've been after him to make me a hope chest for years. He finally made me one and gave it to me for christmas. It's beautiful and I love it.
There's a lot of money in well made, hand made wooden objects, no matter what they are.... I saw a hand made wooden oujia board go for $100 on ebay, once..... it's worth looking into, in my opinion.

Nope....I got my brother to make mine for me in his woodworking class. :D

I'm a real doofus when it comes to carpentry work of any sort. :rolleyes:

Me too! I would love have made my own if I knew how. :( My parents gave me the chest my parents got when they got married. It's a plain mahogany chest...not very big but big in sentimental value.

We saw unfinished wood chests while we were in Michael's the other night looking for wooden photo albums.....I want one for my BOS. You could buy that type of chest. They had some that could even be used as seats. You could stain, paint, decoupage or do woodburning.

I'd bet that any of us could do it if we wanted to :D

I was thinking of buying one of the childrens chests at ikea for like $10, and adding my own carving to it and such... then staining it how I want it.
