I also posted this info in the astrology forum. The upcoming full moon paired with an eclipse can give some extra oomph to our magick. And if you prefer to start your magick three nights before, you'd better get started :D
There is a penumbral lunar eclipse on the 20th, except this site says the 19th
Earth and Sky
Lunar Eclipses
There are two types of lunar eclipse:
1. Partial Eclipse
2. Penumbral Eclipse of the Moon
You will need a Planetary Guide to check dates and times during
the year when these two occur.
Choose long term goals you wish to work on well ahead of these
events. Eclipses represent the perfect union of sun and moon,
therefore practically any type of magick is acceptable.

Is this eclipse going to be visible in North America?

I'll have to research that and get back to you, I'm not sure.
These simple money spells caught my eye today when I received them in an e-mail:
Gold Money Magick
Items you will need:
Gold filings or nuggets (pyrite would also work)
small dish
sunflower petals
10 coins
Place the dish in the sunlight. Focus your attention on the dish.
Visualize the dish filling with money, cascading over the edge like a waterfall of gold. See in your minds eye gold, coins and money filling the room where the dish is. Each day place a new coin in the dish. In time you will begin to generate a money-making ideas.
Each time you place a coin in the dish, you will create wealth and increase and so will your success and prosperity.
by Lady Sabrina
Silver Spell
You need a dish (natural one...glass or pottery or something). Put a dime a day into this dish for 7 days. On the night that you add the 7th dime, make a list of whatever it is you need taken care of (be specific and use visualization.....see yourself relaxing with bills paid or of or using a new refrigerator, etc...). Burn a green candle and burn your list visualizing all things taken care of. Leave the dimes in the dish and add to it with whatever you can whenever you can.
Author unknown
The second spell could be started seven days before full moon, placing the final dime in the dish on full moon night.

Full Moon today, guys. I'm wondering what the implications are of a full moon falling so close to solstice. I'll try to find some info.

I think my goal this year is to incorporate these rituals at each full moon. Made personal, of course...but using these as a starting point.
Tomorrow night we'll be at a friend's ritual...hopefully she'll let us go inside! Tonight's low is 13. Brrrrrrrrr. But I try to stay out as long as possible.

I could attend an indoor ritual tonight, but my ritual for the past few days has been to clear out clutter. I've not done as much as I would have liked, but a few things are getting done.
Tonight I'm going to clear out another area and cleanse it. I've already lit candles on all of my altars. In Francesca DeGrandis' Be A Goddess she suggests that you light an orange candle to congratulate yourself when you've gotten somethig done. Got one going..............in hopes that its energy will keep me going.

Took FOUR grocery bags full of shampoos, etc. to the trash from under the bathroom sink last night........
Going to ritual tonight to reward myself :)

Way to go Freyja!
either of the rituals I could go to are an hour away, in different directions...so I think I'll be solitary tonight. I wanted to have some alone time anyway....(but still sad that I'm not with friends).
I have that book also. I should begin it, since January is for new beginnings!

Our ritual last night was powerful, and I'll post it after I find out if our high priestess wrote it or if someone else did so that I can comply with copyright concerns.

Oh Freyja, I'm glad you were able to attend ritual!
I had my own outside at midnight, some alone time which was good, it was exactly what I needed.
Then I came inside (it was 22 degrees out there!) and tried scrying for the first time, but I didn't have a dark bowl so that was stopping me, at least it was in my mind. So I did a tarot reading instead and it was a doozy.

Just a suggestion....but while you ae checking out the full moon, if you see a sat right around it when it is in the sky after the initial rising...the planet jupiter is visible...not only can you see Jupiter and the dark black rings around theplanet, but you can see 3 of its moons!!! Very kewl indeed...if you have a telescope, even a hand held one, it is a very spectacular thing to see!!!
Also, for info on Meteor showers and eclipses..another point of reference is www.space.com This site has alot of info in it!!! Great place to go to if youa re into the whole outer space thing...I know it is way off the subject of rituals...but I had to throw it in!
I love your quotes by Einstein and Poe btw...

I really need to get a telescope. My son has an indoor planetarium that we set up in the middle of his floor, and it projects the sky on the ceiling...you can see different seasons and hemispheres.
There was a ring around the moon when I was out there. I love moonbows!

Its weird like that..or its just me being weird!!! they don'th appen every month anyway!!!

Just a reminder that you can use the energies of the full moon three nights before and three nights after.....I got into this discussion last night with someone when I asked if She wasn't already waning. I knew about the power in the three nights before, but I'd forgotten or was unclear about the energies still being powerful for the following three nights.

The Full Moon is on the 16th of February at 6:51pm (EST)
in the sign of Leo. This Full Moon is called the
Quickening Moon or Chaste Moon, among other names:
Chaste Moon
Maiden Goddess
Fertility
Strength
The Moon of February is also called Ice Moon, Storm Moon, Horning Moon, Hunger Moon, Wild Moon, Red and Cleansing Moon, Quickening Moon, Solmonath (Sun Month), and Big Winter Moon.
Like Diana, chaste goddess of the Moon, all of Nature at this time of year is pure potential, waiting to be fulfilled. As the Moon changes, so do we, as we discover new potential within ourselves. At this time of year, on this moon, light a candle and look deep within to find what lies waiting...what strengths you have within yourself waiting to be called upon.
"Horning" Moon comes from the ancient Frankish and the modern Asatru calendars, from Horn, or the turn of the year.
The Irish name of the month of February is Feabhra.
American backwoods traditions called the Full Moon in February Snow Moon.
Originally, it seems, the months alternated between thirty and thirty-two days. According to legend, February had a day looted by the month of August, when the pattern was altered and the months were shortened.

Although I agree that some of these links may be useful to AF, and with all due respect to Flar's Freyja, the Moon God/esses she mentions are just but a hair ...off.
For one, and most importantly, Hecate is definitely NOT a Goddess you want to invoke for any type of beneficial magic, other than scrying possibly. She is a VERY dark Goddess, and ancient. Zeus Himself revered Her. She is one of the oldest Goddess known to mankind, dating back to the Babylonians, and Sumerians and beyond.
She is a Moon Goddess. She is the archetype of the Dark Moon, not the Full Moon. Hecate is an ancient and powerful goddess who is called upon ONLY by Priests and Priestesses who have learned the Mysteries of Dedicating themselves to Her, or by Initiates of the Old Ways, who know the secret invocations used to summon Her.
She has been called upon for THOUSNANDS of years. Usually, Hecate is summoned during rites of Black Magic, Divination (During Samhain, is the most auspicious, but any time the moon is waning or preferably, Dark), Bindings, and Destructive rituals, such as events, people, or influences you want to be rid of. Not necessarily "freed of", such as being unbound yourself, by either your own means through daily life or others, most definitely NOT, but to be RID of these things you no longer want to be part of your life. Whatever happens to them, is Her doing, not yours, but beware, sometimes, the effects are not pleasant.
I tell you these things so any who read this knows to be CAREFUL around this particular Goddess. She is to be revered and respected, not reviled.
She IS, after all, the Sacred Crone, grandmother, Hag, Wise-Woman.
She has much knowledge, but that knowledge does not come free.
You must pay for this knowledge, by learning of Her ways, revering what is Sacred to Her, and listening to Her Wisdom, though not through human lips.
Other Goddess not mentioned: Isis, the Egyptian Mother Goddess of all life, was a Goddess of the Moon. Her Crescent with the round circle represent the 3 phases of the Moon that She governs. An "Isis Moon" is a crescent moon that is seen tipped on it's side, like a boat. Picture a stretched out U, and a crescent moon, and you get the idea. During an Isis Moon, prosperity rituals are common, and auspicious to do. Granted, as long as it is during the waxing phase, (towards a Full Moon), and not waning (towards a Dark/New Moon).
Artemis is the Maiden, attributed to the Waxing moon, and is a Moon Goddess.
Selena is the Mother, attributed to the FULL MOON, As is Isis, and all other Moon Goddesses who are also considered Mother Goddesses.
Hecate is the Crone, ruling over the Waning moon, and the Dark, or New Moon.

I always understood Hecate to be the goddess of witches. She's a dark one, yes, but I don't see problems with calling her name for beneficial magick. Or that you have to be initiated to call on her (but then, a lot of paths don't require initiation so I'm coming from a different perspective :)). I also connect the New Moon to healing, so that's one instance where I used her name to perform a healing ceremony.
Interesting thread, guys, especially in light of the Full Moon. Wow, lame pun. Anyway.

Moon Water Spell
*
After sunset tonight, when the Moon is up, take a bottle or other container you can close, and fill it full of water, preferably from a well or other natural source. You can use bottled spring water if there is no safe natural source of water nearby. Put the open container of water outside, and set it where the light of the Moon will shine on it. Ask the Goddess to bless the water with her light. Leave the container there as long as the Moon is up, then close the container carefully. Keep it to use in all rituals and spells that require water. You can do this every month at the Full Moon to have a supply of blessed water on hand.*

Making Full Moon Water
Fill a glass jar with water. Add a moonstone and tightly cap the jar. Three days before the full moon, set the jar outside at night (it doesn't matter if it's overcast) where it can capture the moon's rays. Bring it inside the following morning. Repeat this for the next two nights.
by Yasmine Galenorm from 'Embracing The Moon'
Full Moon Brew
Gather a silver container filled with water out on
the night of the Full Moon just as it rises.
Allow the water to soak up lunar rays all night,
then just before dawn, rise and retrieve the water.
Place the water in an earthen jug and cork tightly.
Use this brew to anoint money to increase wealth.
Touch it to your brow to promote psychic awareness.
Or place it in the bath prior to lunar rituals to become
attuned with the spiritual planes.
By: Scott Cunningham
Can be used to add some Full Moon energy to whatever you're doing. (Side note: you can also make Sun water using the same methonds. If you use Yasmine's method above, a citrine or carnelian can be added to the jar; probably any stone you have that corresponds with the Sun would be fine, as long as it holds up in the water.)

I found this link with suggestions as well as helpful info on each monthly moon...I checked through this thread and started by making the 'moon water' with moonstone and a beautiful blue bottle that I have...
One or two new items I like 'air out' during the Full Moon is new stones or tools or older things that need some 'fresh air' after cleaning...here's some additional ideas.
http://www.paganspath.com/magik/moon.htm
Lovely thread, hope this is helpful. I scrolled through the link I posted and found the "Buck Moon" in July is a good time to work on 'physical' activities...for me, cleaning and airing out items will be a physical move in the right direction.
We also went for a long walk as good exercise...
Best wishes for great moon times...
