Allo,

I have a good friend who has been battling cancer for the past four years. She had breast cancer to start which went into remission. Since then it has come back in both breasts and metastasized to her lungs and chest cavity.

She's going through her third term in Chemo treatment. Her weight has gone down from 150lbs to 98lbs. She's not eating and barely sleeping. I'm going to visit her this afternoon and bring her some fruit which I hope she will eat.

Please keep her in your thoughts, send hugs and love because she needs it.

I know that this board is for members to post, but she needs it more than me.

Please send love and hugs to my friend Rose.

Thanks Clair de la Lune, it means a lot to have your thoughts with us. I plan on showing her this thread at some point. Just so that she knows she has support from all over the world.

Oh, Honey, I am sorry your friend is in such shape.
I do think a trip to the health food store is in order. Or Central Market or whole foods.
If she can drink, get her a bottle or two of Acai juice. It's good and sweet and full of antioxidants. If you or she have a juicer, juice everything you can. It might be that she has pain and does not want to fill her belly.
One thing that worked for my Dad was ginger syrup. It's simple syrup with ginger root. It worked for his nausea and his appetite. It's good on vanilla ice cream. That's a two for one deal. It only lasts about a month in the fridge, so make a small batch first.
She is first on my healing list tonight.

Thank you so much everyone. Watersprite I'll definitely take a trip to whole foods sometimes this week. I bring her fresh fruit once a week, and she's been craving mangos and watermelon like crazy so I think she's dehydrated.

Apparently the cancer has moved to her liver as well. Even though she's not doing all that great health wise, she's making some positive changes in her life, and she's doing better emotionally. I'm so proud of her!

Thank you thank you for your support and hugs!

Dude, you're a member, and you're posting. What does it matter if it's a friend of yours, family, neighbor, acquaintance, co-worker, &c.? and not you? You're free to post both for yourself, and for others. Don't feel restricted by the fact that this is a message board, and you're the member, hon.

Sending good vibes, thoughts, and feelings to your friend, Rose. May she not feel much pain throughout her trials and tribulations, and may she enjoy her time with you. I also hope that she does end up eating some because she could use it.

Good luck in your helping her.

:hugz: :hugz: :hugz:

ETA: Good idea on showing this to her. I hope she likes what she sees. :)

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and wishes. Some news, it turns out that the mass on her chest wall and liver were benign, so that's good. If she makes it through chemo, they'll remove both cysts.

Rose started another round of chemo this week, she dropped about 5lbs (2ish kilos) in two days and she can't keep any food down. Watersprite I took some of your suggestions, I've been sneaking ginger oil in with her water with lemon and honey. It's the only thing I can find that she'll drink besides coffee :bangyourh.

She's doing well despite everything, thank you again for your well wishes. I'll be able to show her the thread sometime next week. I told her about it and she says thank you to you all for thinking of her and keeping her in your thoughts.

I'm glad those were just benign cysts!!

Oh, god, coffee. I mean, it's good she can keep ... something down, but coffee is far from the best, as you seem to know. Argh. I hope she can somehow manage to drink some other, healthier things at some point. :/

Glad she's pleased about the thread, though. :)

I will keep her and you in my thoughts and candle lightings. However, you should never sneak anything to a patient undergoing chemo. I am all for herbal preps, but I am also all for keeping nothing from a doctor you expect to heal you. Next time, run it by the doc first, better safe than sorry after all.

The doctor actually said it was cool for me to give her very small doses of ginger oil to help with her nausea. He recommended Dramamine, but I let him know that she couldn't keep pills down. I told him about the ginger oil recommendation, he said that would be fine as long as I didn't exceed the recommended dose.

That's good food, and hydration! I am glad that you found a combination that she can tolerate. Sometimes the chlorine in most city water is intolerable to people on Chemo. So you did a great thing.
My thoughts are with you. You are a good friend. I will burn the blue and white candles for her tonight.
