ok I'm now further into the book Rune Power and Rick you are right. HE does call it the Uthark. THe reason he does this however is because he puts, Feoh at the end of the circle. which he says is the correct way to look at the runes, as that is how they were meant to be looked at.

Anyway I'd like to list the way that he puts the runes and the names by which he calls them. Anyone who'd like to comment would be appreciated.

1. Ur
2. Thurs
3. Ass (ace)
4. Reid
5. Ken
6. Gifu
7. Wynja
8. Hagall
9. Naud (need)
10. Iss
11. Jara
12. Pertra
13. Eoh
14. Algiz
15. SOl
16. Tyr
17. Bjarka
18. Eh
19. Madr
20. Lagu
21. Ing
22. Odal
23. Dagaz
24. Feh

Do these look familiar to anyone. The other book I have puts them into the Futhark order and some of the runes have different names to them. Oh this is the book Rune Power by Kenneth Meadows.

That's one for Rick :) And I'd like to see Russ make an appearance, too. According to Rick, Russ knows everything......although he might not remember everything

I was hoping to hear from Rick as well. . . I've been purusing the thread all about runes, and it's been informative, but also a little confusing, trying to work my way through this, everyone I know is asking me for readings.

Rick's online right now. If he misses this, PM him. He's wonderful about responding.

Let me put it like this... Meadow's book Rune Power was published in, what, 1995 or '96? I can't find his idea (that Fehu is the last Rune) in any other source material prior to this, & it's not just exactly like there was a stampede to jump on this bandwagon afterward... Meadows gets a lot of credit for his works on Native American spirituality, & shamanism, but I can't give him much credibility for his works on Runes...

By the way, Lilly, one of the best way to learn the Runes is to read with them... if everyone you know wants readings, use 'em as guinea pigs... :D

Re: the different names for the Runes...

There might be as many different names for an individual Rune as there were different local dialects of all the different languages of Europe...

that makes sense.
