On Toon Disney! Do any of you or your kids watch this?
I was folding laundry with my daughter who is watching this cartoon. It has kids who are witches, using wands, doing shapeshifting, saying spells. There are dragons, imps and such. This is the first time I have seen any of it. It looks kind of cute, yes a bit hokey but open to Witchcraft. So that seems pretty cool, especially being on Toon Disney.

*runs off to ask Flar if we get the Disney channel*
Editing to add: In several bookstores, I've seen a journal-type book directed at young girls called something like "The Girls' Spellbook." I've mentioned in several other threads that while I love to see this openness to witchcraft, I'm concerned about the lack of connection to the craft as a spiritual practice.
On the other hand, I wish that I was on this path when I was raising my kids.
My youngest is hilarious, he actually studied Wicca but decided to remain Christian. We've both had financial problems in the past few weeks, so I asked him if he wanted to do a green candle last night because it was a good time due to full moon. He agreed. I inscribed it and charged it and then asked him to put his own energy into it and "make a wish." He was holding it with two fingers and I encouraged him to wrap his hand around it. Then, kind of kidding, I told him to say "So Mote It Be" and told him it was like saying "Amen."
He says, "Somodabe!"

:: idly wonders if she'll get to see it all the way down here... ::
Freyja - Kinda reminds me of my little girl. I've been teaching her a bedtime prayer/thingymajiggy but when we get to 'so mote it be', she only comes out with 'BE!'

"BE!" works...if you think about it. It's a command with the rest understood. "So mote it be" is like "so be it" so you simply could tell it to "be." I think your little girl is onto something!

Doh! All this time I've been saying "Sumo Tit Bee." I thought it was esoteric or symbolic for something...

As for the Ultimate Book of Spells.... I haven't really seen that program in full.. I've seen bits and pieces of it, but it never really caught my attention. (Probably if I was babysitting or something, I'm sure I would have seen it... :p) But yes...we get it here, I can't remember which channel though.

I had a two year old in circle with me once. When we began to dismiss the quarters I did North, then we faced West and she chirped out "Bye!" and the presence at West was just GONE! I did South and at East she went "Bye!" again ... Tell me again why we memorize invocations and dismissals?

..my grandmother lives with us... and whats worse, she has my little sister, now at 5 years of age, already a church goer(she cries half the time if she cant go for some reason). i wouldnt have a problem with it if she didnt combat my every effort to keep teh child open minded... and the fact that i am forced to go every sunday.. I swear when/if i have children, i won't raise them under any religion and let them chose thier own when the come of age. but whats great is at my sisters 4th birthday party she wanted Wizard of Oz Charaters (that being her fav movie at the time)and looked at me and said "You can be the wicked witch" (though i went retro witch.. i had a bright blue wig on with teh witche's hat.. lol

:) I actually saw an adult do something similar at a sabbat ritual recently! He invoked the quarters in the normal fashion, but at dismissal he said "Thanks, and see ya later!"
Being brought up as a Christian and investigating many other Christian paths, I remember that what came up frequently was Jesus' statement that we should be as little children in our faith. I think that the goddess and god would say the same :)
