I've looked at several sites with gods/goddesses, and can't find what I'm looking for the way I need to.

I had a dream last night and what I posted in another forum was this:
>>>Well, I had a dream last night/this AM while sleeping. And I think I know the direction I am to take.....stones. That was the resounding theme of the dream. Let me explain.....
I'd seen others say they have dreams, visions, "callings", so to speak, and get their direction and/or god/goddess(s/es) through those. Late last night, early this AM I'd been dreaming.....and I was teaching a group of two lines of people about stones in Paganism/Wiccaa....what each stone meant, it's purpose, how to use them, etc. It was very enlightening for me. So, I truly feel a more solid direction for my new path.....using stones. So, I obviously need to do lots more research about using stones! LOL
I just could NOT wait to get on and share! This is really important to me because I'd pretty much just left things to fate as of late because I just couldn't figure it all out. I'm so happy and at peace now! Thanks for letting me share!
*Edited to add:
I'm going to add this, because as of yet, I'm not sure what it means.....before the stone/teaching part of the dream, I'd dreamt that I saw a war/battle or some sort of fight. I'm wondering if this is a call from the god/godess that has chosen me, but again, I'm not sure what it really means. So, I'll be doing a bit of research into dieties that have something to do with wars/battles/fighting and see what turns up.<<<

I feel it was a calling of sorts and am looking into gods/goddesses that have something to do with war, battles, fights or anything else that can have those sorts of dealings....like inner struggle or something.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks so much!

Your dream sounds exciting. To answer your question more thoroughly, I have more questions to ask. Was there a particular type of stone that you were teaching people to use? Specific stones have specific associations, so that's why I'm asking.
Oooh, or maybe your dream about stones mean that you should use an opportunity as a "stepping" stone and take on a chance.

Do you follow a particular pantheon? I follow the Greek pantheon, so I immediately think of a Greek god or goddess when someone asks a question. I think of Athena when I think of a a goddess of war. Besides being a battle goddess, she is also a goddess of wisdom. In your dream, you dreamed about bestowing knowledge on people and a battle. Thus, I think of Athena, the goddess of war and knowledge. Hope this helps some.

>>>Was there a particular type of stone that you were teaching people to use?<<<
There were several stones and I even knew the names and uses/meanings of them.....which is odd, because I don't believe I really do. There was one black one...it was huge, just a bit smaller than a watermelon. And I know what hematite is as jewelry making is a recent hobby of mine, and that wasn't it. But black stones seems to be a resounding thing in the dream....that big black stone and the black crystal. And there was actually a black crystal, long like a crystal would be, all the way to the left of the two lines of people. This was to ward off evil and keep negative energies out of the area. The people were standing in two lines, facing inward so that they could see each other. There were stones in between the two lines of people, almost as if we were doing some kind of ritual or something....i'd say casting a circle, except that this was more of a rectangle.

>>>Do you follow a particular pantheon?<<<
Not really....still looking for the best site that lists the dieties (gods and goddesses) in an easy format for me to go through them to see what each is known for....and hope that by reading and researching it, this diety would *pop out* at me.....I feel it's a woman aka goddess, and I'm pretty sure I'd recognize her.

Also, I might add, I really am a nurturing person....I love children, and am saddened that my dh and I could only have one...though look to adopt in the future if at all possible. I'm an animal lover (except for dogs! LOL) What does this have to do with my dream? Well, I really feel that this is a sign that I'm to learn and pass along my knowledge about stones. It's been suggested that I look into Runes, but I'm not really sure that's what my dream meant. I feel it means that I'm to use stones and their powers (such as healing, wisdom, luck, clarity, etc) and then teach that. I hope I'm making sense.

But yes, Athena would fit the bill, she's who I thought of first....but I wanted to be SURE, kwim?

Thanks so much for your time and I look forward to your reply!

I agree with you that the black stone is used to ward off negative energy. Is there something in your life that you might to be on defense about? If there is something that you need to be careful for, that's where the war goddess fits in.

After reading your qualities, maybe the goddess is Brighid. She's sometimes thought of as a warrior goddesss, but she is also seen as a goddess of children, sun, crafts, agriculture, and fire.

Hey, try searching for your goddess on www.pantheon.org. It's a great site.

>>>Is there something in your life that you might to be on defense about?<<<
Hmmm....I'll have to think about that...lots going on in my life/the life of my family (dh, ds and I) including my little brother having final stage melanoma at 26 and trying one last round of chemo before he gives up...my FIL's exwife tried to kill herself with a shotgun to the mouth/brain and failed....she's still alive, but can't imagine a good quality of life..

WAIT! I think I have it! I don't live anywhere NEAR my family (I'm in KY they're all in NH, ME, MA, FL, etc). I've had trouble these past 7-8 years with negativity from certain family members (my mother, grandmother, brother, bio dad, etc) and I've *cut them off* so to speak. But a few weeks ago, my mother called me for the first time in over 2 years to tell me about my brother...and to be honest, I'm not sure I want them all back in my life. I've got a special needs toddler, a dh who works nights FT and goes to school FT and a busy schedule myself....I just do not have the time and/or energy to expend with these people...family or not. They are the eeyore's of humanity, I swear. I shouldn't be so judgmental of them, but I know them too well. In all honesty and frankness, I should be wearing black 24/7 to ward THEM off their negativity is so bad. So I'm really thinking now that THAT is the negativity I'm needing to ward off. Hmmm.....VERY interesting! Thank you for putting me on the right track to thinking about this!
WOW!

Going to that link you provided to look up goddess of war and start a super duper research effort.....SO much for me to learn.

I truly appreciate your help. I'm so glad that there are so many open-minded people here at MW that truly wish to educate and help others. Can't thank you enough!

There's gods associated with war in each pantheon, I think. I'm afraid that alone isn't something to go by. The stones are interesting though, and remind me of Druidry and Celtic Wicca. I'm not sure if you mentioned you study stones already but that's definitely something you might enjoy checking out.

I don't personally get the impression that the battle dream bit was about seeing a patron. It might relate to conflict in your life in the past, present, or future, without or even within yourself, or even what you think about possible threats of war and conflict that's going on in the world at large right now. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry if you no longer need this info but how about the Morrigan?

Just looking at your dream briefly and picking out the symbols "battle" and "stones" - I'd consider my patron goddess, Freyja. The stones represent the runes to me - did you notice if there was anything written on them? And in Norse myth, Freyja claims half of the dead slain in battle as her own. I recently read that she also decides when they are going to die. Don't take this as literal death, since death also symbolizes new beginnings.

I'm thinking Atemis here (one of my goddesses ) :)

Artemis and Diana are basically the same goddess; Artemis being Greek and Diana Roman.

Diana is praised as being the goddess of the witches (i have to assume this applies also to Artemis)

Artemis is the goddess of hunt: maybe not so much a warrior for warring's sake; a warrior for the sake of need, hunger, perhaps the game and skill of it. she is a lover of animals and protects them fiercely, yet feels comfortable hunting to provide her needs.

she is also the protector of women. because you said you are very nurturing i thought of Artemis. she who guards and protects women and children, and animals.

but there are a number of warring goddesses...

Kali, Freyja, Lilith, Athena, Inanna....many who have warring qualities that differ.
you might want to go to a library and check out some mythology books so you can compare aspects of the goddess? i hope you find who you are looking for!

Could these stone be Runes possibly??

As for war gods lets see norse: Thor. protector of asgard slayer of giants; Odin, phsycopomp, known as the betrayer of warriors because he took the best to valhalla; Uller, whose name can basicly be translated as "soldier" he was the norse god of archery, and took the souls of the dead to hel.

I think the stones have been thoroughly explained, and I don't really have anything to add to what you've already been told. But I did have a couple of war Gods/Goddesses you might be interested in.

El -- Chief God of the Canaanite/Hebrew pantheon, who later became the One God of the Jewish people. He was originally a Sky God (which is also why he was the chief God), and he was associated with war and battle (as you'll see if you read any of the older Hebrew holy texts).

Anat -- One of the more important Goddesses of the Canaanite pantheon, Anat was associated with war and was even seen by some as bloodthirsty. She was even known to challenge El, the chief God of the pantheon.

The Matronit -- As you may or may not know, the Jewish people considered the Presence of God (Shekinah) to be female. The Matronit was the Shekinah turned violent, the one who punished her disobedient people and/or went with them in battle against other nations.

I hope some of these have helped you. :)

no mention yet of Ares/Mars?
seems odd since PLHH professed an affinity toward the Greco-Roman pantheon.

and i don't know if i've ever heard that Diana was the Goddess of the witches. She is (with Lucifer) the mother of Aradia, who has a claim to that title. and Artemis IS associated with Hekate, who also is known as the Goddess of the Witches, so perhaps that makes sense.
hmmm...

It's also possible that the Roman Diana is getting mixed up with the Diana of Italian lore - which isn't to say they might not have some connection but that their roles are quite different. For instance, Diana in Stregheria with Lucifer beget Aradia, whereas the Greek Artemis was a virgin and didn't have a child.
