I have some coloured glass stones in multiple colours and have been trying to find a use for them. Sure, they are really cool looking on my altar...but not very practical. I was wondering if perhaps coloured stones could be used for divination by drawing them from a bag and laying them out, interpreting their colour significances and correspondences. Any ideas??

I have some of those colored flat glass marbles in blue and clear. I took my blue ones and made a set of runes with them. They work well for me. As for the color corospondences, tat could work. I'm wondering now if there is a system out there for this kind of thing, because I really have no idea if there is something out there like this.

I read somewhere recently about doing exactly that...using the color corespondence. It was suggested that you could use almost anything as long as they were fairly uniform and you had 12 colors! (I expect tho' that if you had some clear ones, you could color them to make any colors that you are missing.) They suggested taking one object out, writing the color down, and returning it to the bag or box before drawing again. Good luck!

That sounds like an excelent idea! Get your self a bag and place the stones in it and pull one out to answer a question! But which color chart would you work under? The chakra colors and there meanings?? Hmmmmm....I'd have to think about that........

Thanx for the ideas, everyone! :) I have been considering painting runes on the stones, but I find colours more meaningful to me than symbols. (Just a personal thing) I use a colour correspondence chart much like the one Freyja linked to, and I'm pretty good with colour correspondence (meaning I do not have to look things up everytime...just sometimes;)). Anyhow, once again, thanx for the help!!! :boing:

Hi AmbivalentMirage!
These stones sound really special. I would definetely use the color correspondance table when drawing from these stones. To be honest, I have never thought about this idea. Love it, Love it! :smooch: I want to do this form of divination now- particularly because I am really into the significance of colors.
I found this site. It's pretty interesting. http://www.jaguarmoon.org/public/Divination/Casting.htm

Hmm... no, I don't. I'll write down the title and look for it the next time I visit Borders. I LOVE that store, lol.

Well, after much decision, reading, and deliberation, I have chosen a method with which to employ my glass stones! I use two red stones to represent fire, two blue to represent water, two white to represent air, two yellowish brown to represent earth, two purple to represent spirit, two green to represent life-directing energies, and a moonstone to represent strong pulls. I've been practicing reading with the "casting" method of the stones, and it's going pretty well. If anyone is interested in a reading, just let me know. :)
I basically read them by interpreting the placement of each stone and their relationship to each other. :)

you can use coloured glass pretty well for prana work, as to strengthen/work with/improving the chakra energies in corresponding colours
red - 1 st chakra root (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/chakra1.msnw)
orange - 2nd - sexual (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/chakra2.msnw)
yellow - 3rd - solar plexus (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/chakra3.msnw)
pink and green - both heart chakra #4 (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/chakra4.msnw)
light blue, blue-green: throat - #5 (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/chakra5.msnw)
indigo blue - third eye #6 (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/chakra6.msnw)
purple - gold and clear: number 7: crown chacra (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/chakra7.msnw)
clear glass is suitable for any chakra
