What do you think? "--- Coffee and Tea" doesn't really describe the new effort. "Coffee, Tea & Spirits [or Wine]" would better. Lower their prices would be a better move all around, though.
Do you go to them or somewhere else? How often? What do you order most? Would you order alcohol there? It's not something you can order on the go, really.

The few and far inbetween times I go to SBs, I get the caramel macchiatto (or however you spell it).
More often than not, I go when I'm driving from home in VA to Michigan, because the stops on the Ohio Turnpike have SBs in them.

Interesting...I've loved the idea of a nightclub/coffee shop for a while (not quite the same).
As for going there...very rarely. Charbucks is what I go with when there is nothing else around. If I go I usually have to get a flavored drink...a vanilla iced latte or some such to cover up the burnt coffee flavor.

I live in Vegas where just about everywhere sells alcohol so it's not as weird to me as it might be to other people. I worked at Starbucks for a bit and most people that come in there are die hard coffee drinkers in there for the caffiene fix and the million calories that go with it. Knowing the customer base, not entirely sure how alcohol would go over. Just my thoughts on it.
As far as do I drink SB's? I do *guilty* I love their Iced White Mochas with added carmel and an extra shot. That would be my favorite drink ever from there.

I hate Starbucks they always burn their coffee, which is really sad because they use very good coffee beans and they completely ruin the flavor.
It's a little harder to screw up booze though, but i'll bet they manage to do it.

I don't know about very good beans...they have to go with large farms...they miss out on all the small farm batches out there...the cup of excellence award winning beans...don't get me wrong, they get decent stuff...just not REALLY good beans.

well yeah, they don't get the stuff that's like $15 a pound or whatever, but they get some of the best out of any of the big international chains for sure.

It's better than Tim Horton's or store bought I guess...I'm just used to a higher quality

I'd probably get something with Kahlua or Irish Creme in it. I tend to go to the Latte Land, since that's like a block from my place, whereas I'd have to walk 5 to get to the Starbucks, but it might be worth the walk to get Irish Creme coffee. (I have seven coffeehouses within as many blocks - nine if you include Panera and the one in Barnes and Noble.) One would be concerned about open container laws, though. I've always gathered that Starbucks makes the lion's share of its business on to-go orders.

Listen, nothing compares to a good old cup of stale AA joe. Four cups in a row. If your eyeballs dilated any more, they'd implode.

Would you believe I've never been in a Starbucks? My town doesn't have one anywhere close. I'd guess there's probably one in Evansville, IN or Paducah, KY...but why drive an hour to buy coffee? Here it's truckstop joe or nothing. :D
Oh, wait...I think they serve flavored coffees at McDonald's now. So, we also have that.

Boobucks? Where the waitresses are so jacked up on caffeine that even their boobs shake. And some of the waiters, too.

sigh. i like starbucks (i go a couple times per week). i like the atmosphere and i like that they don't serve alcohol (i don't drink alcohol and this is one place where i can meet with friends and not have to be the odd one out). they should simply make their drinks a bit less expensive. this, for me, is not good news.

I feel the same as you do, the ruling pub culture here means if you want to talk everyone socialises over a pint and before starbucks came in we really didnt have a cafe culture at all. Now we can meet people at night without having to go to a pub.
Pub culture raises a point though that it probably wont take off. I travelled a bit in North America and I didnt see one Irish or English Pub that was anything more then a place to get hammered. The pub culture doesnt travel even when the pub is moved brick by brick from Ireland.
Wine might be another thing but I doubt wine drinkers are going to go to starbucks to enjoy a bottle of wine. If youre going to pay the markup to drink somewhere I atleast would want slightly more palatial surroundings then a starbucks can offer
