Background:
I've been sad lately, out of sorts so to speak. Totally unlike me.
The weather here in MO is changing, its getting colder, windy, normal but this year it has totally saddened me.
I've basically been "unlike me" since Samhain.
Well yesterday in the car, I hear Lilith.. I am the dark goddess, I am misunderstood, and yet I am sensual, full of life, and vibrant.
I am Lilith, I am woman, I am the wind that whistles, the gloom that falls, and I am Lilith.
....um, what is happening here...
I usually work with Ashera/Ishtar/Inanna the mother goddess of the Near East.
Lilith was unexpected...

Ya know, Lilith is popping up here alot lately for me too, though more in dreams and "circumstance" in life. She isn't even in the pantheon I am drawn to! Okay, so anyway, here's a little bit on her:
Archetypally, Lilith is the first feminist. A Sumerian, Hebrew, and Muslin Goddess, she is referred to anciently as the hand of Inanna who gathered males into the temple for sacred sexual rites. She was the original wife of Adam, with whom she claimed equality because they were created together in the image of Elohim. A Goddess of childbirth, she holds the rod and ring of Sumerian royal authority, wears a stepped crown and is guarded by the bird of wisdom and the king of beasts.
So...check out what's going on in your life, see what needs a feminine influence, or what strengths she can offer you. Sounds like a pretty clear message. She is very well spoken (beautiful message). Don't know how much help this is, but I saw Lilith and before this dream I had last week I'd never heard of her.......and then she has come up randomly ever since. This description was written by a friend who runs a New Age Web Shop that has a good selection if you ever feel like checking it out (hey, sorry for the promo, but that's who wrote the description, I couldn't help myself).

It sounds like Lilith is a misunderstood goddess. Goddesses whom are misunderstood represent many things- including change. It sounds like there is some change in your life; for that reason, Lilith was the goddess who represented change for you and decided to enter your life.
Here's a previous thread on Lilith if you want to learn more about here.

Guys thank you so much.
I've always been a bit afraid of Lilith. In hebrew folklore she is a demoness, so that kinda puts me off a bit.
But I like the part of her being the right hand of Inanna., that totally fits.
I would suppose it is time for me to look deeper into this dark goddess, and why she has decided to contact me.
**BTW I am very honored by contact, just a bit unsettled as well**

here is the description of Her that i have.
note Her close connection with Motherhood and newborns ( or may be I am the one who should note it...since i'm the one who MIGHT very much be with child now).
interesting that you brought Lilith up, just about 3 days ago, i found myself looking up information on Her. for no reason at all.
lilith (see also lilitu)
The ancient Jews believed that Lilith bore Adam many
children before she abandoned him for the demon
Samael. The first she-demon in human history, she is
supposed to have hated Eve's children and their
descendants. When sons were born, superstitious Jews
displayed cards on which was written, 'Adam and Eve,
enter here; Lilith, remain outside.' [DOS]
---------------------------------------------------------
Although Lilith was not an angel, she was directly
created by God. The Devil's consort, the Queen of Hell,
and the daughter of night, Lilith is a holy terror.
Driven by an insatiable hunger of envy, Lilith stalks
the world by night raping men in their sleep and sucking
their blood, or stealing their newborn children from
their cribs and eating them. According to ancient Hebrew
beliefs, God created Lilith to be Adam's first wife; but
he made them unequal, connected back-to-back like
Siamese twins. When they argued incessantly, God decided
to split them into individual people, but this did not
do. Lilith hated being a housewife under her husband's
thumb all the time. She questioned masculine supremacy
and was not a big fan of the missionary position, which
was what Adam (and one surmises, God) preferred in their
sexual relations.
Lilith ran away with a band of demons, with whom she
spawned a generation of evil creatures called Lilin
or Lilis, often depicted as owls. Owls were considered
to be evil birds of night that could not look directly
at light. As bad as she was, Adam missed her and
complained of his loneliness to his maker. God created
Eve (from Adam's rib, lest there be any lingering
question who was dominant) and sent three angels --
Sanvi, Sansanvi, and Semangalef -- to fetch Lilith.
They found her with her vile prgenjy and demanded she
return, but she would not. As punishment, God decreed
she be banished and that all of her children die in
infancy. Lilith grew despondent and went to throw
herself into the Red Sea. The three angels were
genuinely moved by Lilith's despair and compensated
her with power over newborn boys for the first eight
days of their lives, the first twenty days for newborn
girls. Lilith in return promised not to harm children
who had the three angels' names written anywhere near
them.
Alone outside of Paradise, Lilith happened upon another
creature divorced from God, the Devil, who in the
Talmud legend takes the name of Sammael. Bound by their
mutual hatred of humanity, Sammael and Lilith spawned
a generation of devils and wicked creatures. Some
beliefs claim it was Sammael and Lilith who plotted the
downfall of mankind in Eden. In many artistic repre-
sentations, the serpent is actually Lilith, not Satan.
In others, Satan seduces Eve while Lilith works her
charm on Adam, and it is all euphemized in the idea of
tasting forbidden fruit. While many cultures revile
Lilith as the epitome of evil femininity, in others
she has come to represent the fight for women's equality
and free sensuality. In the Talmud, it is not Lilith's
hatred for babies that drives her into nurseries, but
her love of them. Barren for eternity, she longs to
press a warm baby against her breast. According to the
same belief, if a baby smiles during the Sabbath,
Lilith is amusing it. [TD]
I hope this may be of some help!

Try Merlin Stone's "When God Was a Woman". There may be some inaccuracies, and definitely some points I disagree with, but at least she's written quite a bit of Lilith.

About a year and a half ago, I adopted a gorgeous tortoiseshell cat. She seemed to have more than the usual amount of "cattitude" and wasted no time putting my three male cats in their places! Very quickly, she established that she was in charge. I couldn't help but name her Lilith, since it was obvious she was taking crap from no man! :)
Well, the name was fortuitous, to say the least, for three weeks later I discovered that she was pregnant (not by any of mine, they are all fixed). A few weeks later she had a litter of six kittens, none of which I was able to place for adoption. (Yes, I kept them all.)
So, I came to live with Lilith and her brood of demons! :)

wow!
that sounds amazing! do you at least have enough space and time for them all?
i live with a cat, whose name is Loki. a few years back, when a friend of mine got a dog and called him the same name, i was really not supportive of it, feeling that it will in a way invoke real Loki with his trickstery and mischief..
but i saw this kitten in the pet store, and my friend who worked there asked if i wanted to hold it. as soon as i touched the kitten, in my head i knew that his name ALREADY WAS Loki. and i could not call him anything else.
he lives with me now. he's not fixed, and it's really becoming a problem. my mother insists on getting him fixed, but i cannot bring myself to do that- i feel i'll be violating him ( although i realize that in many ways castration will ease things up for him).
so, i have no idea what to do...

Get him fixed. You will be doing him a favor, and he won't even notice. I have six cats, five of them spayed or neutered, and the sixth is going to become an "itten" on Dec. 18. They're much easier to live with, get into fewer fights, and don't spray ...

I"m really big into name research, and found it very interesting that my name spelled with the two l's that it is is actually a dirivative of Lillith, instead of Lilly, in most of the more comprehensive name searches.
