I just got word that my cousin, who's only 22, just graduated from the Navy Seals. Apparently he did what they call Hell Week on a broken foot, because he didn't want to tell anyone or they'd make him wait, and he'd fall behind. I've seen documentaries on Hell Week, and if he can do that on a broken foot, he can do anything!! He's one tough guy and I've never seen anyone so pasionate about anything before.
Anyway, I just thought that was really cool :)

It is, isn't it? He told us once, that for part of his interigation training, he had have his finger broken, to make sure he could withstand pressure under pain..... can you imagine? I certainly couldn't do it.

Congratulations to your cousin. Being a seal takes a lot to do. I have an ex boyfriend who was on subs, (which take a lot too) and he told me that being a seal took much more than subbers. He has a lot of respect for the Navy Seals because of that.

What exactly happens on Hell Week? I don't know much of anything about the Navy Seals and would like to learn.

Found this on a website:

"Hell Week starts just before midnight with an instructor waking trainees with the sounds of shots from a machine gun. The trainees then begin 5 1/2 days of constant activity, including more running, swimming and boat drills. During Hell Week, the focus is on teamwork: Teams of trainees are required to lift and maneuver logs weighing 400 to 600 pounds. Working as a team, they have to hold the logs overhead and do sit-ups with the logs on their chests.

During Hell Week, trainees consume about 7,000 calories a day -- and they still lose weight! They get a maximum of four hours of sleep for the entire week. This is the utmost test of physical and mental toughness; it's not unusual for trainees to start to hallucinate after about four days."

"motivation" if you want it badly enough, and your strength matches your desire you'll do what it takes, whatever it takes. if not you'll ring the bell.

this is NOT a slam at athemyst rose's cousin but there are a lot of people out there claiming to be "former navy seals" than there are real live seals. most "special operations" people don't brag or tell "war stories" even after they return to civilian life.
