My jaw dropped at how easily she plucked it from the water, and then how serene the fish remained as she waded from one side of the stream to the other with it in her embrace.

That fish looked like a pet or something. Maybe it was her old goldfish that she moved to a pond and it just got really really really big :hahugh:

Koi can become huge, but that to me looks like a catfish or a sheepshead.

I also don't think it was well.

Maybe the fish felt so violated , it clammed up ,
and was shellshocked...:uhhuhuh:

Has anyone ever tried to hold onto a fish while trying to get a hook out of it's mouth? That fish was dead...

It looked like it was opening and closing it's mouth, but I agree, it was probably old and on it's way. Although I've seen grown men handfishing, and they pull the big ones out of their caves in the streambed, and it doesn't seem like they put up too much of a fight.

Wasn't dead. Its called noodling and its not at all uncommon.

Looked like a cat to me. It may have been sick but its struggling a bit so its not dead.

From the size, it may have been a catfish. My mom is from Indiana and she told me that catfish get to be pretty big when fully grown. That's so cool that the girl just walks up, grabs it, and heads to the other side.

noodling can be dangerous... if that is what she was doing.. I don't know how comfortable I would be with my 3 yr old doing that. I have seen shows, where not all the noodlers had all 10 fingers.. ran into other stuff.

Glowy, you and I both know there are some stupid people in this world, many of them who would let their three year old girl noodle on camera to show of to their friends. Now I feel like I know way too much about noodling and catfish so I'm going to my corner now. :toofless:

Haha yeah. I remember swimming in the lake and the constant warning to watch out for snapping turtles. "Don't touch you'll loose a finger!!!!". Though I've never been noodling, only trollin' for cats. One thing I can do that drives me nuts its baiting my hook..I'd rather use faux bait. I'm not against noodlin though..I think I could do it in shallar water.

I agree it looks like a pet of some kind.

My friends have a small stream that branches off into their back yard. They put up some rocks in a circle to make a low barrier and they've some kind of pet wild fish swimming around in it that they hand feed. I don't think it's that big...yet.

Maybe it had just finished spawning and was about to die? I've never seen a fish that passive even after it's been "noodled" or "tickled" or whathaveyou.
