I want to learn more about Wicca and topics of that subject. I am going to Barnes and Nobles tonight and want to try to find some books. Though, if I do find the right book, I can't purchase it because of my mother so I'm bring 10 dollars with me to purchase something secretly...anyone have any ideas of good books for a teenager beginner?
Oh and where can I get a pentagram for a friend for x-mas?

We have a recomended book list in the Book Forum that you might be interested in. Have you checked at your local library for books? This way, you can read them & decide if you want to spend your money or not.
Also, in the Marketplace forum, there's a thread on where to buy a pentacle. Most of these places are online stores, if that's what you're looking for.
Here's the link to the Pagan Jewelry thread...

Merry Meet, Silencia. Library is the best place. I always try to see first what they have, whether the book I'm contemplating is worth reading and purchasing, etc. Some books are not. Many are, but I'm happy to just read them once. And some are worth owning and reading again, or for using as reference.
Especially introductionary books are one-time reads, mostly, and also easily available at the library.

I forgot to mention used book stores are another great place to check out. Not to mention that the prices are really reduced!

I live in Toronto area ( Canada) and i am yet to find a used book store that would carry something of this Nature.
then again, perhaps i haven't been looking hard enough.
there are a few books that i cannot recomment strongly enough:
Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. - it's a huge book, and every word in it is just precious. simply amazing. It's a story of King Arthur told from the point of view of the women behind the throne. Morgaine ( there are TONS of ways to spell the name) is the main character. the book really explores the pagan ideas and symbols, as well as describes the struggle betwwn Christianity and Paganism
The Fifth Sacred Thing by Starhawk. - it is set in the future, in a rather strange place. Explores different aspects of Paganism. also, amazing! ( also, huge). [also, fictional]
The Spiral Dance by Starhawk.- non-fictional. more like a guide to the basics, but would be rather interesting and educational for anyone.
The Invitation and the Dance- by Oriah Mountain Dreams. - two short books. the author, the Shaman of the Native American tradition of Twisted Hair is exploring different aspects of spirituality and self growth, uses ( true) examples from her own life. can read them in one night and be affected by them for a long long time!!!
NOTE: i'm not promoting the sales of those books, don't get me wrong! those are just the books that have really spoken to me!
( oh, and the book that i'm reading now- Running with the Wolves, by C. Estes- is also amazing, it explores the idea of a Wild, Primal, True Woman through the use of fairy tales...)

I know you are not IN Toronto, but if you ever get the city, look up Book City, She Said Boom, and try going to Queen West. :)

One book I truly love is Ariadne's Thread, by Shekinah Mountainwater.

For books at good prices, try www.half.com, they have just about everything you could hope to find and usually they are dirt cheap!
Books I personally would recommend (for what it's worth):
The Spiral Dance by Starhawk
Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham
The Witches' God/ The Witches' Goddess, both by Janet and Stewart Farrar
Wicca, the Old Religion in the New Age by Vivianne Crowley
To Ride a Silver Broomstick by Silver Ravenwolf
These are, IMHO, the best basic Wicca 101 books out there. Not to say there aren't other good books, but these will give you a good foundation in Wicca and the Gods.

I don't don't know what it is with Silver Ravenwolf, but I just never got enthusiastic by her writings. I feel she talks too much in "Yeah, guys, this is cool"-fashion. Is it just me, or what?

Is that Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes? That is a great book! One that I picked up in a used book store. Most used book stores are hit & miss. But if you ask, sometimes, they can save books for you.

There's at least one or two threads in Books about SRW that you'll want to refer to.
