I was walking home at 10 PM yesterday. The sky was clear with stars all over, but no moon anywhere in sight. It's not dark moon yet, so why, oh, why couldn't I see the moon? Is it possible that in some nights, she rises so late (after 10 PM)?

maybe shes rising early... last full moon she was high in the sky at 5:30 pm!

And then she goes away by 10PM? I'm perplexed...

The moon rises later as the cycle goes on. The new/dark moon is at it's apex at 10-11am-ish. I think it's been rising pretty late now, I saw it at the highest a day or two ago at 2:30am.

Check out http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneYear.html for a handy way to find out the moonrise and moonset times (and other things) for your area - at least in the United States.

You just have to fill in the blanks with what you're looking for and then click the "compute table" button.

Moonrise and moonset times for your area for a whole year!

Ganga - you could also download the Lunabar if you felt like it. The link is in the Astrology forum.
