And got about 2 pounds of catniip from my buddy. From what I've read, there aren't as much (any?) carcinogens as tobacco, it is cheaper, non-addictive, and I may be nuts, but it is slightly sedatating and euphoric.

Are there any other good herbs to smoke? Granted, smoking anything isn't good, but I am thinking of harm and expense reduction.

Thanks in advance :)

I don't know about smoking anything to displace cigarettes. If you up your B complex intake it will help flush the crap out of your system faster. Then you are only dealing with the mental addiction.

I'd look into Lobelia (lobelia inflata) aka Indian Tabaco. From all that I've read on it, it is in essence, a good replacement for regular ciggerettes, and oftens subsides the craving for nicotine without being addictive itself. It also has properties to help clean your lungs. However, in high doses it is toxic, so do a bit of research on it if you're interested. I also believe, that while it can be smoked, it is typically used in the form of a tincture or infusion (you can make a tea of it). Again though, and I stress this, as I am no expert, do research first..as it can be toxic, and if you take too much it has an emetic effect and can make you vomit..which is probably not what you're going for. :p

If you're really looking for herbs to smoke..there are many you can..but be careful.. as some herbs are obviously harmful when ingested. I've heard of people smoking Damiana (which is rumoured to act similar to canabis, yet milder), Passion Flower, Chamomile, Clove, Mugwort, and Catnip (as you have mentioned). I'm sure there's others.

I wish you the best of luck in stopping smoking, assuming that is what you really want.

Oh that's good to know! I'll have to tell a certain family member about that :)

Cat nip can cause bad headaches! Its not good to smoke often.

Our herbal smoking blend is, Base;
Lobelia, coltsfoot, peppermint.

Other herbs can be added for different flavors like sage or uva ursi.

The bad side is that because of the peppermint, which is for the menthol, our smokes smell very much like pot.
Sage has the same effect.

There are a lot of herbs that can be used for smoking blends.
Google smoking herbs and blends.
Many grow wild and can be harvested for free.
Many make pretty garden herbs. :)
