View Full Version : Problems with daily readings

I'm having strange problems with readings these days. When I read for myself or others for a specific question and with a specific spread, the readings go very well, in fact bettter than ever.
However when I do daily readings (using the same deck), they seem not to make any sense. What can be possible reasons for this?

Too much in such a short time frame. Some spreads aren't meant for daily use.
Other than that....it just seems harder to see into the day to day stuff using a spread. Sometime, one card is all you need. .......just see what happens, and don't depend on the cards to dictate your day. ;)

Since we do not know your Tarot style, I am going to echo Dagda's sentiments and guess that doing a 'reading' every single day is way too much information to try to process. You should limit yourself to three cards at the most, and I recommend a single card read once a day will be much easier to interpret.
Also, if you ask the exact same question every single day, the cards get 'muddled'.

I actually do a one card reading everyday. Just one card, but I it's difficult for me to interpret it.

Perhaps because on a daily basis one card refers to general undertones or overtones or feelings throughout the day, and in a more abstract way. See, when you do a spread that may span over time, it's easier for events to be picked out, since more events occur. In one day not much might necessarily happen, there aren't a lot of events to refer to, so the reading is likely to be more abstract and in reference to feelings or subtle thoughts or things to think about, rather then an identifiable event.
That is to say, when you pull a card, think about how it's message might affect you during the day - what you could keep in mind, rather then what event might occur or a specific circumstance.

I have a deck that I use only for my daily draws. Then, I carry the card that I draw in my purse all day (In a special pocket that is just the right size :D ) That way, when I get a free chance, I can pull it out and reflect on it. My husband does a daily draw as well. It's kind of strange when we pull the same card for our daily draw (from two different decks shuffled quite well). Maybe that's just cause we're so close.

I'm like Aoibheann in that I carry the card with me in a plastic pocket. I usually do a one card thing in the morning. Not as a reading but as something to relfect on during the day.

Yes, Emaleth. The one card daily reading is more of a reflection than a specfic event. Do you keep a journal of your drawings? This can help you pull them together at a later time. Tarotbear was started a "monthly reflection of daily drawings" thread back in Oct. I don't think he's started one for Nov. though. Anyway, that's a could time to review the cards :)

Yes, I do keep a journal of my drawings, and I do reflect on them monthly (I'm a very diligent girl;) ). As I look back on the whole month I can see some pattern in which the cards appear. It is that all of them together mean something, but seperately most of them don't make any sense:rolleyes: . But maybe it's supposed to be like that...
Anyway, thanks for replies:)

Dear Emaleth:
Maybe you are trying too hard? Or maybe what you seek outstrips your question. That is the intrinsic problem with reading for yourself -- you are too close to the subject matter.
Possibly you might try reversing the process; that is - if you do your card first thing in the morning, perhaps you should try at night instead, asking what 'went through' your day.
trying to be helpful here....
