Aine of the Fae

Ok, a couple people have asked how I do my past life readings and I decide to share. It's really easy. The biggest thing for me was getting the right deck. The artwork needs to be something that you can really, really get into intuitively. For me it was the Hanson-Roberts deck. It's a Rider-Waite based deck, but the colors are softer and prettier.
Anyway, the first thing I do is pull out the four Kings and the four Queens. Shuffle these together and pick one. It doesn't matter how you pick, just do it. As you're shuffling and choosing, think 'I would like a past life reading for (name)'. Once you've picked that first card:
Kings - you were a man
Queens - you were a woman
Look at the card and see if anything in particular draws your attention. Is it the Queen of Cups? Does the ocean draw your attention? It may be different each and every time. In my deck, The King of Rods has what could be mountains or pyramids in the background. Sometimes they draw my attention and sometimes just the 'warmth' of the card. Go with your intuition.
Once you've decided on whether you were a man or a woman and have a general location, put the Kings and Queens back in the deck (all of them, even the one that you pulled for the first time). Shuffle while thinking of the particular life that you have just begun the reading for. I shuffle seven times, but you do whatever feels right for you.
Now, for the fun part. There isn't a spread that I use. I pull the first card from the top and that is the circumstances surrounding the birth. Then comes the mother, the father, etc... Let the cards tell you a story. For example:
King of Pentacles - you were a man who was born in a lush green jungle, perhaps south America or Africa.
Ten of Cups - your birth was a joyous happy occasion that fulfilled your parents dreams
Empress - your mother was a sweet wonderful woman who cared deeply about her children
Page of Pentacles - your father was a young, innocent man who valued his family and his work deeply
The Tower - there was a great cataclysmic change in your life that shifted everything for you early in your childhood
And then, after the tower you could pull a couple of cards to see what this was. Progress through the cards adding to the story piece by piece. Listen to your intuition as it tells you when to stop or slow down. Ask specific questions if you want. "Did I meet my soulmate?" "Was I rich?" Pay special attention to anything that catches your eye or draws your attention in a particular card, it usually means something.
And remember, past life readings are a lot of fun so don't get too serious and feel like your doomed because of the bad Karma of a past life. You still have many more lives to work it out if necessary. (And let me tell you I've had some REALLY nasty lives. Think Hitler, Charles Manson and Osama Bin Laden all rolled into one. **shudder**)
