So great guys. Tomorrow At 1:30 I am going to go see a mental health doctor about my problems. I am scared, I could really use some good thoughts/prayers/what ever you guys can spare! I just woke up from a dream that they took my kids away. Not going to happen I am sure, but, it really didn't help matters. >.> So.....

Not that I advocate lying to healthcare professionals... but... I've lived through six years of being pressured into see shrinks per my superiors (only two of the visits were official psych evals)....

I would say, with caution, that a shrink only knows what you tell them no matter how experienced they are. I say this only through experience and pass it on solely as an observation.

I passed my second psych eval- where the cards were stacked well against me (partially for being pagan)- by telling the unyeilding truth in cellophane packets... in other words, I let them know I like the taste of blood... but how can one be considered insane if they got that taste from licking their own accidental wounds?

As I'd done that there was no lie... or admitting that I wouldn't mind going on a psychotic rampage... who wouldn't want to go on a bloodily psychotic rampage against terrorists that threaten everyone we cherish and those that we don't... with patriotism in heart??

I even told them I see dead people... so what if someone sees a person at the side of their bed when they just wake up? Dreams need time to quit, and who's to say the image you just saw "physically" wasn't an image in your head that didn't have time to disappear with the rest of your dream? Or maybe it was just a vivid dream.

I even told them about voices in my head... If god speaks to this christian soul, then so be it, none can condemn me for listening to the father when he tells me to bless others with the wisdom of his son Jesus sacrificing himself for the rest of us (okay... I did diffuse quite a bit, but there are certain boundaries that could be considered safe zones).

My point is, sometimes the truth will set you free, most of all, don't go in with fear. I don't really advise taking the route I did, but more times than not, when you go into a mental health visit they can sense when you are scared and sometimes take that as a sign you are hiding something. Whereas, if you get all those butterflies in you tummy out before you go in, and on top of that display logic and comprehension, you should be okay.

Either way, I feel things will work out for you. I wish you the best and give you as much energy as I can muster in my present state. May peace entrench your soul before you step foot thru the threshold of the office and stay with you until you leave.

Blessed be and good luck,
Thought

It must be scary to think that asking for help could land you in an even bigger mess. *hugs* I hope your visit goes well tomorrow.

Sending energies for you to find the right kind of help. :hugz:

I went through some horrible depressions (undiagnosed and untreated mental and health conditions) and at times wished someone would lock me away from all the stress, I really believed my child would be better off without me. Sounds like you still want to do the best for your children so I hope you can find the right kind of help to handle whatever issues you have.

I'm thinking of you. You're to be commended for making the appt to help yourself-just be sure that you are comfortable with your therapy-if you feel the direction that it's going is wrong, it very well may be. :hugz:
