It's a little female and she's sooo cute and small. She might be a kitten still, which would explain her size. She's a stray that showed up at our house a few days a go, and she's still a bit timmed. We have 5 house cats already so my dad wont let her come inside.

Still trying to think of a name. I want to give her a name that has something to do with witchcraft or that area, but not one that's been used hundreds of times. What do you think of these?

Artemis
Isis
Bast
Raven
Spirit
Luna
Black Magick (?)
Dark Moon

...Any suggestions?

My tuxedo black and white is named Freyja, and we fed a stray for about two years who was a beautiful calico grindle and we had named her Magick. She disappeared about a month ago :(

I really like Luna since she's shown up around New Moon and Black Magick is a very cute name but you'd probably end up calling her Magick ;)

I wish I'd known you were looking for one a month or so ago.
I had four kittens that were looking for a home.
Two were given away and I decidec to keep the black and gray ones.
The gray one is Sterling. He had two names before that Smokey and Blueberry.
The black one at one time was named Bear, then his name was changed to Blackberry. But none of these names have stuck. He's also been called Magick. But then again, doesn't seem to be sticking. Guess he'll end up just being called Black Cat.;)

But it's good that you were able to give a home to that little black kitten. Good luck on naming her - as you can tell I can't offer you any help in this area.8O

I didn't even think about the moon being dark. I couldn't see it if it were full, it's been so foggy here. Thus far I've been calling her Artemis. I like that name, but it dosen't seem quite right for her. Maybe I will go with Luna or something along that line.

Thanks for your help, both of you.

You could ask her what her name is...

I find that cats have a way of making their names known to you. When I got my black cat, I had every intention of calling him Mischief. However, I realized within a few days that he was not a Mischief, but a Midnight. And so he has been Midnight for 10 yrs now!
Best of luck with your new kitty. Hopefully she can come in when it's cold. Otherwise, look into getting some sort of shelter for her outside. We have feral cats in the neighborhood and I went out and bought a small doghouse to put in the yard. Glad I did, as we are right now getting what is supposed to be quite a snowstorm. It makes me feel better knowing that the cats have someplace warm and dry to curl up and sleep.

What about Karma?

I don't know what the weather is like for you, but we're getting 8 inches of snow today. That could be fatal to an outdoor cat with no shelter. Even so, it is best to keep the feral cat seperated from the indoor cats until it gets a clean bill of health from the vet.

How about "Umbriel?"

I like to let my kitties suggest a name for themselves. My next door neighbors abandoned a little black kitty, which we've adopted. I started calling her Onya, because that's where she likes to sit. Now we call her Squirty, since she is such a squirt.

My little black girl is named Raven. It was the name they gave her at the shelter, but since she already answered to it, there was no point in changing it. A friend of ours has a black cat named Chocolate Cheesecake.

Midnight, Moonlight, Shadow. Pretty much anything Egyptian. Or wait until she shows you what she likes ... A little stray I adopted is named Orion because he was such a mighty hunter (death to feather toys!). She'll let you know what her name is.

I like Raven, but I agree with the others, you should let her tell you what her name is! :)

I have a yellow-ish cat named "Topaz". I say "yellow-ish" because his fur is a light tan, yellow, and white mix. His full name is "Topaz Chrysanthymum" because we found him in November and he is yellow. Hehe. ^.^ He's very small, but still extremely active.

You could try Onyx or Ebony...

But all the previous names are beautiful too! :D

Oh, there has never been a time when I wished I had a witch board more than now, and the cat the skill to use it.

I currently live in eastern oregon and we get a lot of stray cats dumped here, mostly males. People likely see my dad's dairy and think "oh there's a nice farm, they always need cats to catch mice. I dont think they would mind one more." {{Sigh}}. My gray/silver manx Pagan was one of those, Shes a brat but I wouldn't give her up for anything.

...ok this is kinda long.

{Bast - Nightwind's Whisper - Moonspell} Bast for short.

Why, you may ask? Well I like Bast because I've always been into ancient Egypt and many sites I went to researching the name said that Bast was in fact many different gods over a long langth of time, including Isis, and was the egyption Artemis.

{Nightwind's Whisper} is the one she gave me. Night from her black coat, wind because she is so fast and she can really sneek up on you, and whisper because she is sooo quiet in both her movement and her speech that you wouldn't know she was there unless she let you see her. But she can really let herself be known if she wants to.

Moonspell because I wanted a magick kick to her name and this one came to me last night.

Well, what do you think? Dont be shy, I don't get insulted very easily.

I love it! :) Really, it's good how you thought about it! It's always better when there's a deeper meaning! :)
