Hey all.. normally I love snow..
but hubby is being kept at work all night because of it.
Today, it started snowing at 1pm. It just stopped at 4am. There's a good foot on the ground. I can't distinguish the driveway from the yard.. and I can barely open up the front door.
Hubby's boss drove into a guard rail on her way home. She's fine, but her truck is in the ditch. The roads are a sheet of ice, so hubby decided to stay at work. Luckily, I can talk to him online and have been since 3pm. It's almost 5am now and I've not slept. I know I won't sleep until hubby gets home. :(
Please please please keep your thoughts with him when he comes home? I want him (and the new car) to be safe.. I'm so worried..

My thoughts and prayers are with you both. :heartthro:
The snow here is awful too. The roads are absolutely covered. It's not nearly as bad as where Loki is, though.

Loki, I feel your pain!
We live in an area of NJ that gets hit hard by the snow. My hibby works an hour away close to NYC where is is usually not as bad. Two years ago, it took hubby 6 hours to get home- all the roads were closed and he literally sat on the highway for hours. I was a wreck. He would call every half hour with an update. To make matters worse, he is Type one diabetic (insulin dependent) and had no sugar with him. I was terrified he'd go low and have no one to help him. I am already very worried about his trip home tonight, but he promised me he has lots of extra sugar this time.
I will be thinking of him as well as all of the commuters who need to get home safely.
Looks like we are getting much much more than the 2-4 inches they predicted. We have that much already and it only started three hours ago. :(

Ick....... I know how that is. We get huge dumps here sometimes -- and the snow removal crew can't keep up with it. *lesigh*

Loki is your hubby home yet?
Mine left work at 1:30 and is still a half hour away in normal traffic. It is 5pm. Poor guy is a bit batty but at least he is moving. The roads are really s****. I was sliding all over the road before. I even walked to the bus stop to get my son instead of driving. (1/2 mile from my house, so not too bad- it was worse just waiting for the bus to arrive).
Hope you are home soon!

We got about 6-8 inches and it's still coming down. I love it too!
But I really like the pretty big flakes that come down--this stuff was like little tiny powder looking flakes. Well, there's still a lot of Winter to go!!! (Oh that's right, it's not officially Winter yet!)

But it's a light snow, big flakes, although its coming down steady.
I'm home and Eric is working until midnight, and here it is about eight minutes until then.
I'd expect he'll come along soon, but it worries me, because this is a new shift for him and he tires easily.
It's 25 miles between here and work.

I will light a candle for all of our loved ones in the snow. We got snow here these past few days too. It can be so beautiful, yet so dangerous. I grew up in California, so it still amazes me, but I've been here long enough that I'm starting to realize what a hassle it can be.
Parent Teacher conferences got cancelled today because of the snow, so the kids definitely don't mind it! ;)

In the old days we had to walk 10 miles to school in a raging snowstorm...uphill and in our barefeet! j/k
Seriously, I hope everyone's hubbies and love ones made it home safe today.

:rotfl: I can't believe I didn't think of that first!!! :rotfl:
Here's a pic of our snowfall for you guys--it's on my back deck, so forgive any ugliness. :)
Oh, and believe it or not, there IS a water bowl underneath the snow next to the big planter thing--you can see the indent in the snow next to the edge of the top stair on the right. I keep it out there for my squirrel friends. :D

One more quick one. :)
By the way, these were taken at nite and after the snow had a little chance to settle down in the cold.

7 inches of icky white stuff all over my lawn, driveway and sidewalk. Blech! (did I ever tell you that I hate winter? :D)
Hubby made it home a little after 5:30. 4 hours after he left. He walked in, grabbed a beer and his guitar and jammed. He had to relax and let off some tension.
My kids have a 90 minute delay this morning too. Which is good cuz it will take me that long to get my car out of the driveway.
One of these days, I am moving too FL.

Hubby got home an hour and a half after he left. I stood at the door for that half hour talking to my mom on the phone.
He stayed all night at work, so I talked to him for the whole time.. we comforted each other and made the time seem to go faster. When he left, it was 6am.. still kind of dark out. He got home at 730am. You could imagine how I threw myself at him and hugged him.
He's on his way to work again.. and I'm waiting for that "Soldier has signed in" to pop up my my MSN.. I hate waiting.
I have a feeling I'll be adding to this thread again tonight.. it's supposed to snow again. :(

No snow here either. I'm really hoping that we'll get some for Christmas but I really doubt it. Frost is all we can hope for. :(

No more snow yet. The snow we *do* have is melting. I'll miss it, but I'm glad hubby won't have to drive in it.
Well, hubby might get a supervisor job soon. :) We're really hoping he does!!!!!!!!!!!
