My Minnie had a stroke and/or seizures on Friday, vet it unsure which, as she's showing signs of both. She's only about 3 months old, and my adorable sweetheart. Yesterday, she slept all day. Her right side seems to be affected the most; her head is pulling to the right constantly as if the muscles are all tensed.
She's a bit better this morning. I slept on the couch bed with her so I could keep an eye on her, and she managed to crawl from her blanket to cuddle with me sometime in the night, and this morning, her personality is starting to show for the first time since the event on Friday. She's purring, and cleaning herself obsessively, which is normal for her. She did drink some water, but she's not eating yet. We're heading to the store shortly to pick up some soft food to make it easier for her. She tried walking, but gave up on that very quickly. Her balance is completely gone, and she keeps skittering to the right and falling over.
She's making progress, but could really use the energy for her recovery.

Have you tried feeding your kitten with a syringe? I have a cat that chewed on a rubber mat in my office and got very sick and she would not eat, so I had to feed her with a syringe and she got better.

That's what we'll be doing when we get the soft food. Just have to get to the store. At this point, I just want to keep her strength up long enough for her to recover. She's already doing better, but has a long way to go.

Yes, dear. You want to keep her strength up. I am happy to hear that she is already doing better.
I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. I LOVE cats. I have two.

:hugz: I hope your little fur angel is feeling better soon. When softer food is needed (and because animal digestive systems are so darned sensitive), I take a handful of the dry kibble, soak it in HOT water, then if it needs to be softer still - use a hand blender to puree it. When it is a nice warm, goopy mess, offer it to them or use the syringe.
Stay strong for her - I'm very glad she is starting to act like herself.

She's drinking on her own, but won't eat on her own. I'm currently feeding her a mushy mess of cat food mixed with cat vitamins to make sure she's getting plenty of nutrients. Her head is stuck in a twisted position, and she has no balance at all. When she tries to walk, it's this awful skittering motion. She wants to be held all day long, and if I'm not holding her, she struggles to one particular spot in the kitchen and sleeps there. Right now, I'm just monitoring her progress. If she doesn't improve from where she is now, we'll likely have her put down, as she does not seem comfortable at all, poor baby :(

As a dog and cat person by nature, Stories like this always pull at my heart-strings, as cheesy as that sounds. I'll keep the kitten in my thoughts.

As an animal lover I know how it is to have a furchild. How is Minnie doing? Sending postive thoughts and energy for you and her.
Take care.
