I am highly driven by my cycle as a woman so I find this very interesting.

OK, I personally hate birth control !!!!!! I've been on two types the nuva ring and the depo shot. With the nuva ring I was kinda depressed and hardly ever wanted some and my anxiety got a lot worse! I went off and I felt allot better. Well 8 months or so later got pregnant with Eli. Then after Eli I went on the depo shot, again I had no desire but not really any anxiety or depression. however, with the depo (sorry if the is way to tmi) but, I could not get lubracatied even if I wanted it! I thougt this was becuse I just had a baby but, about a month after I went off it I was back! :boing: Anyways for now I'm off all birth control but unsure what to do because I'm not ready for another kid! But, being on birth control was really starting to hurt my marriage. maybe I should try a IUD

I recommend the IUD - hormone one though. The copper (which can last a lot longer) can cause some seriously nasty cramps, and tends to make periods heavier. The hormone IUD is a lot easier on the body, and can make periods so light you'd only have them for a day or two.

I'll be getting mine in about 3 weeks. Just had a boy 3 weeks ago.

I have the Mirena IUD (hormone one) its good for at least five years. I have had it for almost two years, the first six months was hell. I bleed for weeks at a time but once that stopped I bleed very little and started to enjoy having it. I have used the pill and patch and find the IUD to be the best

My experience as well. Very heavy periods to start, horrible cramps the first two days after I had it inserted... but then shorter periods with only one day heavy...still very heavy.

I am getting to my fifth year with it and need to have it removed. Has anyone removed one? Done by a doctor or did you do it yourself? I am guessing a doctor has to remove it.
