Wladimir Klitschko retained the WBO Heavyweight title with a one-sided victory over Jameel McCline at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas Saturday night. McCline's corner stopped the fight after Jameel was floored in the 10th round. The TKO victory for Klitschko improved his record to 40-1 with 37 KO's.
"I am very happy with the result and I hope the show was good," Klitschko said.
Klitschko controlled this bout from the opening bell. He was able to keep McCline at a great distance by tagging Jameel with left jabs and hooks. McCline, looking uncomfortable throughout the fight, was not able to answer Wladimir's patient assault and landed no significant punches.
Klitschko said, "I did not hit him with my best punches but they were good enough."
When McCline did land a few rights in the 4th round, Klitschko immediately responded with a left, right, left combination.
McCline may have won the 7th round when Klitschko took a round off, but in every other round, Wladimir kept popping McCline with the left jab and occasional combination.
At the end of the 10th round, another Klitschko left sent McCline on his wallet in his own corner. McCline barely got up before referee Jay Nady's count reached 10. The bell for the round then sounded.
McCline's corner, knowing their fighter was losing every round and taking heavy punishment, stopped the fight before the 11th round. McCline falls to 28-3-3.
After the fight, Klitschko said, "I was focused on the fight and very prepared. He was tough but simple."
Klitschko continued, "It was the right decision to stop the fight. I am certain that if he had come out for the next round, I would have ended the fight very quickly."
The victory ended a good year for the Klitschko brothers. Brother Vitaly is expected to fight Lennox Lewis next Spring. "I'm looking forward to the future and what it holds for the Klitschko brothers," Wladimir said.
McCline offered no excuses. "I couldn't get my jab off," McCline said. "I don't know why. I can't say. I felt great. I'm going to have to look at the tape."

I can't wait until Vitaly Klitschko beats Lennox Lewis, I hope these brothers are starting a trend of Eastern European domination of boxing!
