I'm having trouble grounding due to being on pain meds if i don't take the meds i'm in so much pain i can hardly walk, but being on them i just feel drunk and can't think stright, and there's a constant ringing in my ears.
I have no problem centering as i can't seam to focus on any one thing and emptying my head is pretty easy in this state of fuzzyness, has any one else had this kind of thing happen due to meds and if so how did you get around it?
To stop taking them wont realy work atm i've also noticed i've picked up a lot more of other ppls junk then normal as in negitive energy i'm normally pretty empathic but these drugs seam to open me up to feeling more and i'm kind of worried if i can't focus when i try to ground i might do more harm then good. I was going to try some healing but i'm to tired to and can't find the energy, is it even worth trying to heal when i'm burnt out or should i let the meds work and worry about cleaning after i'm stronger any advice would be good.
Thanks in advance,
peace and light

One option is that you're on the wrong type of pain medication. Have you spoken to your GP regarding side effects. Your medication shouldn't be making you feel that way. I'm on pain medication and in constant pain. I also through many years of having pain constantly have just worked through pain supression and temporarily I can 'push' the pain to one side, obviously after doing what I have to do, it comes back, but that's just the nature of my medical conditions.
If your body is just still in the process of getting used to new pain medication, I'd suggest getting yourself used to them, always being aware that if after some time they are doing the same things that you might have to have some alterations in them. Sometimes we need to take a break to be able to get to a point of re-focussing and healing without doing any workings.
If anything, just work on having some 'quiet time' and learn to relax and learn some pain management too.

Today i went outside and did some work in the rain pretty nice to just switch off and be outside, the sound of the rain always seams to be soothing too. Not sure if my pain has improved but i feel better for doing it and thats what matters, thanks for the advice Seshata if the meds keep bothering me i'll go back to see the doctor and relaxing in my own space is helpping.

Rain is great - so is a hot shower - toss some oils or herbs on a sponge and let it be on the floor of the shower so that the steam acts as a cleanse (I like clove, cinnamon or sage - or if I'm stuffy I'll use mint or eucaluptus). Perform a small ritual of letting the negativity and the excess energy wash away from you and down the drain. Allow the water to ground you when you are too foggy to do it yourself.
I hope you feel better soon.

Great to hear that you're feeling a bit better. There are a whole range of issues especially if you're dealing at any point with chronic pain.
Rather than water the best way I've found over the years for grounding even beginners is the feast after a ritual.. a good meal works wonders.
Pagan_Soldier, have some biscuits handy and a nice cup of tea as an emergency supply. ;) Remember to take it slow and if you're not feeling great take a break.

I have trouble doing yoga and meditating due to pain and stiffness from arthritis. I hate pain meds, I'll only take them when I'm in agony, but that means that sometimes my abilities are limited by pain.
The other day when I was noticing how good the hot shower felt on my painful joints, it occurred to me that since it was too dangerous to do asanas in the shower, I could do them immediately after the shower, when my joints were still feeling good, perhaps in front of a heater. It makes regular practice so much easier.
Do talk to your doctor about the side effects of your current med. There may be better options available.

I must say that personally (another arthritis person here - Rheumatoid as well as Hypertensile Joint syndrome), I too am in serious pain, but over the years I've just worked out a way of living and working with my pain meds as well as working out my own way of 'pushing' the pain away till I have finished. However, it isn't always possible. Yes, definately warmth is important for the joints..
Have you tried some of the herbal microwavable fabric bags to put on your joints? For those dealing with pain, have you tried Tens machines?

I think tonight i'm going to try listening to hypnosis its a give up smoking cd but it does deal with relaxation so its worth a go i tried the shower and eating and i have to say forcing myself to eat isn't very nice but needs must. As for my pain i slipped a disc 5 years ago and most of the time i don't need to take any meds i can control it with simple things like heat and exercise. Its just when i flare up i fall to bits but i guess that's the hand i've been delt lol thanks again for the advice i'll look into trying a tens machine, and i'm going to stop taking my meds at least i know what to expect form my back pain lol better the devil you know and all.
Peace and light
