Im sitting here and listening to a lord of the ring track, and wanted to tell you I LOVE YOU

hope a tutorial will help, feel free to ask anything-

begin with a picture of a really awesome friend
draw her on a piece of paper, i used my screen as light-board to get the proportion right.
Scan in the drawing
start to zoom in and paint areas, like eyes, lips, ears
rest of the face can be left blank, just smudge the lines of the nose and cheak bones etc
ad some shade areas to give a realistic look
SMUDGE TOOL IS YOUR GOD
BURNING TOOL IS YOUR GODDESS
Found the elf ear at DA brush tools
Draw up the hair area grossly then go into detail
(Pen tool -> stroke path, simulate pressure) to get the hair lines
Do same thing again on top of the old lines, this time use a smaller/brighter brush/color
Shade large areas of hair into darkness

if you need more space, save the picture and copy paste it into a new page which is larger

add jewelry, background, longer hair/body etc

Hint- if your satisfied with an area of hair you done, then multiply it, lay them in there own layer and play around with the pieces until you get get a result thats awesome.

Hint2- steady supplies of tea, music and YAOI is needed for art as well as life

I just use the regular brushes I have with some special effects ones ( with varying opacity) and the smudge tool . I do not always get it as detailed as yours so that is why I said I never thought of that way.I also find using the pen a pain in the butt too use. However it does give me some new ideas how to spruce up some old work too :D

not long at all, the second vampires is actually my second drawing ever done in photoshop. and the elf is my latest and third. For now its a halt, kind of crappy when my compute screen shows different colors then what they actually are. Things are warmer and more smudgier/glowing at my screen, makes things more magical and gives a warmer/childish feeling to it. LIKE IT. so others sees my stuff differently, gets wrong. I just Surfs on DA allday long

oh yea, im self learned, took the bull in the horns. look at tricks on google, just understood the layer thingi XD its the most important after all.. i see now. Im not so productive, and cant create stuff which i intend to do. The best results are spontaneous, and Digital inspiration often comes from this girl, Writing from another girl. And some just dont give me inspiration
The model was a classmate, now she is in for the army a year.

And yea, its fun. everything is FUN FUN. doing a wall painting for now, may be done in some months i work slow, autumn motive. Had to murder an old wall painting to get the space for this one. the old motive was Master chief you know from Halo

How about you then :D?

Wow that is awesome yay to another self learner :D I started with photo manipulationg then one day just started fooling around with PS as a result my first piece was done in 2007 and looking at it now I am like thinking ya there is a lot more I can do with it lol. ( And I had the same issue that you mentioned about seeing one colour but other people see differently).

However it was not till last year I got into it more I translated an oil painting of mine to a digital version and now I am in the process of doing a series of digital paintings which I hope to go towards my first art show.
They will include my tarot images, my mythical paintings and many other things I have been working on.

The best results are spontaneous, I agree they have to be, other wise it lacks focus and intent at least that is what I find and sometimes loose interest. And when I go back it is hard too finish. My avatar is my recent spontaneous piece could use a lot of work but hey it got done a lot faster then some of my work :D

And like you I do surf google and DA for tutorials and such and just practice. It is amazing what some people can do :uhhuhuh:
