 That is soooooooo wrong. He had no business doing that! Santa dead. That is just crazy. Makes me mad that he'd do that.

My parents always told me and my brother that there was no such thing as Santa - but they were my parents - and we paid no attention and believed in him anyway.

My kids believe in Santa and have never been told there is no Santa. As a matter of fact - I know Santa. :D

What a jerk! I would love to call him some stronger names, but this is a family site.

So instead::razz: :smash: :razz:

I can tell my son has questions. He is 6, but he wants to take no chances and loves the idea of Santa. How can someone else take it upon themselves to take a child's innocence and joyful belief away from them?

Oh my goodness......

Well.. Besides it's generally nicer to find out from your parents, or finding out on your own, I wouldn't want to hear that Santa's DEAD if I was that young. Dead- no. Not real - yes. But there are ways around that, like saying that Santa is the SPIRIT of the season.

Idiot.....*walks off grumbling*

Why do people have to do that? Part of the fun at Christmas is the magic, that you go to sleep one nite and the next morning you wake up and there's stuff under the Tree for you.

I'm dealing with all that now. My son, is 10, and I haven't told him there is no Santa. First of all, I don't want to, because there's that kid in me that believes that maybe, JUST MAYBE, there is. Not only that, IMO as a parent, kids grow up way too fast, because they have folks that want them in the "real world" as it were. Well, those same kids are the ones freaking out at school & home because they are forced to become mini-adults. Why take away things, like Santa, Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy? Why force them into the horrible things that go on in this world, especially after what happened last year? Why NOT believe in Santa? Lots of good things happen this time of year. By total strangers, giving to those that don't have anything.

With my son, he said "well, me & the guys were talking and we don't think it's true, but we're not sure" So, instead of saying "yeah, there isn't a Santa" I told him that Santa is real as long as you believe in him in your heart. I told him as long as you believe in the magic at Christmas time, and hold that good feeling you have all year round, Santa lives. He seemed to accept that answer (which I think I did pretty good with) and proceeded to ask if Santa likes Chocolate Chip cookies best or double stuff orero's?

I told him double stuff oreo's.

I donno.... I think it's chocolate chip. :)

I stopped believing in Santa when I was about 10, I think. No one said anything, that I remember, I just stopped. I never told anyone, but the next year, when I was 11, I went to my dad's for xmas (my parents are divorced), and there were presents from Santa under the tree *before* Christmas. I knew there wasn't a real Santa, but it made me really sad that my dad didn't even try.
I never went to his place for Christmas again.

To this day, my step dad (who raised me since I was 2), wakes my sister and I up Christmas morning, telling us that Santa came, and there's always new presents under the tree, and full stockings. One year, when the entire family was in the basement watching movies and what not, and no one had left at all, we went up stairs just past midnight, ready to go to bed, and there were presents from Santa there. To this day, I have no idea how they got there. No one in my family could have done it..... weird, huh?

What a rotten individual!!! :evilway: Someone should tell the kids that HE's not real!!!

My oldest busted me on the tooth fairy (caught me with the goods, he did) And we both got busted on The Bunny!!! But he's 12 and I knew the questions about Santa would soon follow. And they did. And even after I explained my belief about Santa, that he is the spirit of the season( was a long explination) and even after all that, he just asked me again if I was sure Santa wasn't a real physical being!

My 9 year old totally believes, we dont mess with that!;)

I still can't understand how anyone could ruin a child's innocence and fun. My little girl (3 y.o) absolutely loves Santa. You should here her when we run into one of them at the mall. I have absolutely no intention of ever destroying the joy of seeing her so excited at something/one she loves.
I know that one day she'll ask and I'll probably go along with the 'represents the spirit of the holiday' thing, but for now... she can squeal and run up to any of the Santa's she sees as much as she wants.

My explanation to any kids I may have in the future is gonna be off beat, like everything else I do.

Most or all of us know that St. Nicholas was a real person, and hasn't been physically alive for quite a while. But, if reincarination is true, then Santa Claus really IS alive, so to speak.

And if not, then he must be a ghost. A spirit, if you will.

Last year when we took Trey to see Santa he told Trey to leave him Oreos and diet Coke..no milk.

Mol hates Diet Coke, so he is screening Santa this year!!!

NO ONE HAS THE RIFHT TO DO THAT!!!!

when I was seven I learned in the course of a year that santa wasnt the man who brought presents on christmas, that babies came from mom/dad, that pets died, and got my eye scracthed on a bolt... I miss the magic of times I had back then and noone has the right to tell these kids they cant have just as long as theyre able!
