Are you familiar with this site?

http://taroteca.multiply.com/

I may just be behind, but I stumbled upon it over the weekend and I absolutely love being able to see all the cards in a deck before purchase!

Just thought I would share!

If you either know German or can navigate around in spite of it, this is also a good site:
http://www.albideuter.de/

Of course, both are extremely guilty of copyright infringement, but I agree, useful when trying to decide whether to buy a deck.

Albideuter I think gets around copyright rules because they cut the borders, and I believe they are asking permission for at least some of the decks.

Taroteca I'm not sure about, I know the image quality varies from deck to deck and that might be how they get around copyright rules, but I have heard a few complaints.

However I've been known to use both when it comes to deciding whether or not to buy. :)

I have only had two experiences with purchasing decks that I wasn't able to see first and found to be disappointing, but that was enough for me!

For that reason alone, I'm really glad to have found this site...But you are right...I'm sure it's used for other purposes.

I don't speak German, some days I barely speak English, but thanks for that link!

If you look to the right side of the page, all the different colored bars are the different decks....you may have to scroll over a bit, but for a lot of them the English title is given to the right of the bar. :)

I know! I'm playing there right now!

Finding these two sites may cost me money...Now I really have no excuse for NOT ordering those on my wish list!

I've used both those sites on occasion. I also like using Aeclectic Tarot (http://www.aeclectic.net/) and Janet Boyer's reviews (http://janetboyer.com/Reviews_Decks.html). I've found a ton of decks that I'd never even think of buying otherwise.

I think a lot of artists are discovering that tarot enthusiasts like to see the whole deck before they buy. I bought the Fantastical Creatures Tarot (Lisa Hunt & D.J. Conway) after drooling over the art on the artist's site. I like to look at the cards first to see how the images match up with the traditional meaning of the card, and I hate minors in pip form because they don't tell me anything, so I'd like to be warned beforehand if the deck doesn't use scenes.

I'm a member at Aeclectic, and it's an amazing resource, all the way around.

Thank you for the review site! I hadn't stumbled upon that one yet, either! After reading through a few of her reviews on decks that I do have, she and I seem to be much in agreement, so that would lead me to trust her reviews for purchases I'm considering!

I prefer scenic minors, too, but do have a couple of decks without them. The Crystal Tarot by Elisabetta Trevisan has some very nice minors for this type. I bought it before I was really ready for it, not one I would recommend for beginners, but a wonderful deck, none the less.

These sites are favourites of mine, because they help me compare art between decks (something very helpful as I'm creating my own deck), as well as find decks I normally wouldn't.

Unfortunately, they also pointed me in the direction of the H.P. Lovecraft deck, which is extremely hard to find. One day I'll work up the nerve to lay down $600 on a deck. One day.
