So yesterday being my birthday, I sat down with my deck and asked for three cards showing what I'd be facing in the coming year. What I got were the Ace of Swords, Strength, and the Sun - which sounds both challenging and auspicious.

It will be interesting to see how those things manifest.

Anyone else do something similar?

On our birthdays Mithrea and I swaped a years forecast for each other. (We have the same birthday.:) ) I used a Celtic Cross layout for her and she did mine based on the Wheel of the Year - pulling one card for each month then re-shuffled and pulled one card as a summary card.

I did one like Mithrea did for me for my SIL on her anniversary.

I've never tried a wheel of the year spread - it might be interesting, hmmmm.

I did just that on my birthday a couple weeks ago, Azure. :)

I just drew one card, as a general indication of the year ahead. Using my Spiral deck, I drew The World, which I thought a wonderful forecast for the upcoming year.

Those wheel spreads always confuse me. They are supposed to be one card for each month. Do you lay the first card in the position of the month you are currently in...or what? Every book explains something different. (How unusual is that?)

All I know is how Mithrea did the reading for me. Our birthdays were in Oct. and the first card in my reading represented Nov. She pulled a card for each month. After pulling the card for Oct. she reshuffled the cards and pulled a "summary" card.

When I did the forecast for my SIL I just did the same as Mithrea only I started with Dec. cause her anniversary is in Nov.:)

See, Witchy Cowgirl, that makes too much sense. In one of my books you start the first card in Aries, no matter in what month you are reading. That never made sense to me.

 Well, I guess it's like we've always said before - know how you wanna go about it before you start! But I don't know about the Aries bit though. Anyway - give it try!;)

I usually do the wheel the same way Witchy did. It doesn't make sense to start with Aries all the time if you're in different months. Probably something to do with the zodiac connection...it might make sense if you look at it that way.
