Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claims the United States is attempting to thwart the return of mankind's savior, according to reports from Al Arabiya, a television news station based in Dubai.
Ahmadinejad reportedly claims he has documented evidence that the U.S. is blocking the return of Mahdi, the Imam believed by Muslims to be the savior.
“We have documented proof that they believe that a descendant of the prophet of Islamhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,579640,00.html#) will raise in these parts and he will dry the roots of all injustice in the world,” Ahmadinejad said during a speech on Monday, according to Al Arabiya.
"They have devised all these plans to prevent the coming of the Hidden Imam because they know that the Iranian nation is the one that will prepare the grounds for his coming and will be the supporters of his rule," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying.

:rollingla Im speechless.
The story is that King Herod also tried to prevent the savior of mankind from coming to the world, and failed. It's a little hard to believe that the U.S. government could do any better.
Of course this is from Fox news, so it's questionable from the get-go.

And my own efforts at keeping the Great Naked Mole Rat within the confines of my sock drawer are also being thwarted by the US Government! Darn them! :veryweird
In full agreement with Lunacie's post, on a more serious note.

It's true though.
I have the savior hidden in my basement.
Well, under the floorboards, as I don't actually have a basement.

His followers, whatever their faith, apparently frighten him.

Or it could be your bias thats questionable from the get-go.
If you read the first few paragraphs it doesn't come from fox anyway.

I just got a mental image of a mole rat in a sock drawer. Couldn't stop laughing for a couple minutes.
Seriously though, didn't Rome try doing something about stopping the savior of mankind. To the best of my knowledge that kinda fell on its face didn't it?
The fact that another government thinks we are trying to stop their savior astounds me.
"They are nothing without the Iranian nation and all their rhetoric is because they don't want to appear weak,". Wow. Sounds as though the Iranian president is on a bit of a power trip.
That's just me though. I've always thought we should just stay out of the BS in the Middle East.

So funny, even moreso because it rings true.

Oops, my bad. I hate when people respond without reading the whole link but I was short on time earlier and failed to read it myself. Of course, seeing that it was Fox news I figured I didn't really need to.

It sounds like the kinds of stuff Ahmedinejad is known to have said before, he has always had a very extreme fascination with Mahdi and once tried claiming to know that he was coming soon.
Though it's hard to say if its true, FOX makes up stuff all the time and Ahmedinejad is just a crazy dictator who says stuff like that.
It's true though.

liar, he's locked in my icebox. or did you mean Mahdi's savior?
I'm sorry, if America can beat up your god, get a new god.

Yeah, seriously? If your deity can be trapped by a HUMAN government, wtf are you doing worshiping them? Seems to me that means that they aren't a deity afterall... :eyebrow:

For the theologicly impaired.
It's only christians that believe the messiah is God.
In actual fact the belief that there will be a new prophet is widely considered heretical by many Muslims as Mohammed is supposed to be Humanity's last chance of salvation according to mainstream Islamic theology
The Islam practiced in Iran is a divergent off-shoot, much like the protestant/catholic divide in Christianity.

Damn, some people are taking that whole "If America can beat up your god" comment way too seriously. I don't really care if this guy's a god, savior, or pizza delivery guy. It was a joke, get over it.

, all I saw were people tossing jokes back at it. Was there something I missed?
Edit: OK saw wolfpoet's comment, but still, it's an interesting point of discussion, joke or no. :)

That and north korea, where their "dear leader" thinks he's a god. Somehow the way the world is right now just disturbs me.
